The Kaua‘i Horseshoe Pitchers, Anahola and Hanalei Horseshoe Pitching clubs hosted the Hawai‘i State Horseshoe Pitching Singles Championships Labor Day weekend at the Anahola Horseshoe Courts.
MyrtleMay Kamoku, of Anahola, landed in first in the Class A division with a 6 – 1 record and a ringer average of 57.03 percent. Jesse Calon, of Honolulu, took second place. Ray Kinors, of Honolulu, won the Class B competition. In Class C, Hanalei’s Kris Offembacher won. William Brewer, of Hanalei, won Class D.
O‘ahu’s Jesse Calon took first place in the open men’s division of the men’s state championship. He ended the day with an 11 – 0 record and a ringer average of 50.00 percent. Calon now holds the record of being a five-time Men’s State Champion.
First place and Women’s State Championship honors went to Anahola’s MyrtleMay Kamoku. Kamoku is now a three-time state champion and ended the tournament with the highest ringer average of 57.36 percent.
Anahola’s Joseph Koko won first place in the Senior State Championships. In Elders Division I, Raymond Kinors, of O‘ahu, took first place. Wayne VerHaagh, of Kapa‘a, was the champion for Elders Division II.
