Adoracion D. Aquino
Adoracion D. Aquino died on Sept. 7, 2003 at the age of 88. She was born in Kilauea on Jan. 12, 1915.
She is survived by 10 children: Peter (Gloria) Aquino, Albert (Solidad) Aquino, Theresa Newsom, Carmen Young, Rick (Debbie) Aquino, Florence Weisenburger, Virginia “Cookie” (Don) Zywot, David (Luci) Aquino, James (Joyce) Aquino and Mary (Ken) Daubert; one sister: Alfonsa Riola; one brother: Philip Demerin; 35 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake will be held at St. Catherine’s Church on Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. and graveside services to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetary. A celebration of her life will follow.

George R. Susterich
George R. Susterich of Kekaha died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Sept. 7, 2003, at the age of 80.
Born in Grand Haven, Mich. on Aug. 20, 1923, he was a Chief Master Sergeant with the Hawai‘i Air National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Carolina of Kekaha; three sons, George Kalani (Veena) Susterich of Redwood City, Calif., Steven (Leslie) Susterich of Bothell, Wash. and Michael Susterich of Federal Way, Wash.; two daughters, Georgia (Alejandro) Lomosad of Hanapepe and Marian (Edward) Kanda of Kirkland, Wash.; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Joan Japenga of MI., Frances Buikema of Michigan, Fanny Susterich of California, and Carol Blecksmith of Washington.
Viewing will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. Pastor Larry Smith of the Church of the Nazarene will do the officiating. Burial to follow at 4 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion.

Alice Almodova
Alice Nobue Almodova of ‘Ele‘ele died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Sept. 2, 2003 at the age of 80.
Born in Waimea on July 9, 1923, she was a housewife.
She is survived by husband, Louis Almodova Jr.; son, Don Almodova of ‘Ele‘ele; three daughters, Geraldine (Thomas) Yamamoto of Hanapepe, Sandra (Ronald) MacDonald of Phoenix, Ariz. and Patricia Ashley of Honolulu, O‘ahu; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Gima of Anaheim, Calif. and Beatrice (Michael) Kikugawa of Kalaheo; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Sat., Sept. 13, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.

Kyoko Okazaki
Kyoko Honzaki Okazaki of Waimea, died Aug. 23, 2003, in Honolulu at the age of 76.
Born July 17, 1927, she had retired as a librarian with Waimea Library.
She is survived by her husband: Yoshito Okazaki of Waimea; one daughter, Valerie (Allen) Ozaki; two sons: Bryan Okazaki and Wesley (Marla) Okazaki; two grandchildren; and sisters Naoko Ho and Yorie Honzaki.
Private service was held on Sept. 6 at the Waimea Honpa Hongwanji.
Arrangements were handled by Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
Charles Caspino, Jr.
A service will be held for former Kauaian MSG Charles Caspino, Jr., US Army (Ret), 61, Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with visitation following the service.
Burial with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DAV.
MSG Caspino died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003. Born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, he was a son of the late Charles Caspino, Sr. and Eleanor Ching Caspino. Retired from the U.S. Army, he was decorated with the Silver Star for service in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Bernecker Caspino; sons, Christopher George Caspino of Big Rock, Tenn. and Patrick Allen Caspino of Columbia; daughter, Caroline Leilani Caspino of Stuttgart, Ark.; brother, Dennis Allen Caspino of Columbia; sister, Charlene Wilson of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Matthew Charles Caspino, Caroline Elizabeth Caspino and William Kahale Caspino; and nephews, Kalani and Kaleo Caspino.
Mariano D. Valenciano
Mariano D. Valenciano of Lawa‘i, died at his home on Sept. 6, 2003, at the age of 91.
A field worker, he was born Jan. 23, 1912, in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife: Paz Florida Valenciano; June Akuna, Macklin Valenciano, Audrey Valenciano, Marida V. Dorado, Selwyn Valenciano; two brothers: Placido Valenciano and Juan Valenciano; one sister: Virginia Ballesteros; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 5n9 p.m. Cremation to follow. The family suggests casual attire and asks that flowers be omitted.
