Representatives of the Hawaii Medical Service Association and the Kukui Grove Star Markets location are joining forces to offer free produce samples to parents as a way to encourage their children to eat more fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.
From 10 a.m. to noon today, parents can get samples of fresh produce from Aloun Farms, and children can get their pictures taken with one of HMSA’s 5 A Day Friends, fruits and vegetables characters.
Parents can also sign up to win a 5 A Day gift basket, and get free healthy recipes.
5 A Day Month is all about learning how to reduce families’ risks of cancer and other diseases by selecting, preparing and eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetable each day, said an HMSA spokesperson.
