The Hanapepe Pop Warner Association celebrated a sweep Saturday as they took all three contests against the Kapa‘a association.
Clifton Callejo led the Hanapepe Colts JPW to a 30-6 win over the Kapa‘a Jr. Warriors JPW despite the strong showing exerted by the Jr. Warriors led by B.J. Aiwohi.
Cole Parangao took the reins of the Hanapepe Colts PW to lead the Peewee squad to a 22-3 showing over the Kapa‘a Steelers PW in the second game. Tiloi Alapa split the uprights on a 25-yard field goal (“with room to spare,” noted PW Commissioner Leon Gonsalves, Sr.) to prevent the Steelers from a blanking.
Alden Lahip, Kaawila Bongolan, and Alan-Michael Gaspar peeled off yards at Hanapepe Stadium as the Hanapepe Colts Midgets blanked the Kapa‘a Vikings Midgets 28-0. Despite strong showing from Shea Alapai, Kapa‘a was kept from mounting any kind of sustained drives, although the Vikings’ defense did a good job of slowing the Hanapepe leaders.
Taren Tani broke a defensive slugest to lead the Lihu‘e Patriots JPW to a 7-0 showing over Northshore Na Ali‘i at the midway showdown.
Ikaika Rapacon, Mikey Blackstad, and Brenden Sovel led the Koloa Packers JPW to a 25-0 blanking over the Kekaha Panthers JPW in the first of three afternoon contests where Koloa took two of the three games. The Panthers were led by the strong running of Jaymon Resquer-Yorkman.
Loren Duarte and Aston Carbonel led the Koloa Rams PW to their 28-6 showing over the Kekaha Seahawks who got their score off Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo late in the game.
Max Agor worked both sides of the ball with John-Anthony Lumabao and Waalani-Arroyo joining Agor in defense. The Koloa win puts them in a tie with the idle Lihu‘e Patriots for a crucial showdown this Saturday, Oct. 4 at Hanapepe Stadium.
JonAnthony Reyes, Matthew Ah Loo, Christopher Newcomb and Wesley Schmidt led the Kekaha Chargers Midgets to a 22-0 run over the Koloa Raiders Midgets in the finale with Reyes and Schmidt striking paydirt for Kekaha.
Games on Saturday, Oct. 4 will take place at Hanapepe Stadium with Kekaha tangling with Hanapepe in the morning series and Koloa hosting the Lihu‘e association for the afternoon series. The Northshore Na Ali‘i will punctuate the day with a contest against the Kapa‘a Jr. Warriors JPW. Kickoff starts at 8 a.m. with the final game kicking off at 8 p.m.
