Morales puts pressure in R/C races
Reggie Aribon got some serious pressure from Seth Morales, 12, as Aribon battled hard to take the Top Qualifier and top honors in the Nitro Sedan ‘A’ division at the Sunday races held at the Big Kmart parking lot course.
Dennis Ginez came from the back of the pack to take all three mains of the Nitro Sedan ‘B’ division with Kaikea Kaanaana dominating the Nitro Truck class.
Special thanks to Big Kmart manager Jarrett Chytka for the use of the store’s west parking lot.
The next Garden Isle R/C racers will be held Nov. 2 at the Wailua off-road race track located next to the moto-x track.

Kapa‘a golfer in Senior PGA event
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Rich Fite of Kapa‘a will be one of 264 senior golfers in the PGA Professionals for the Callaway Golf PGA Senior Club Professional Championship that will be played from Oct. 23-26.
Defending champion Mike San Filippo of Hobe Sound, Fla. is the champion of the North and South Courses.
The 264-person field will be trimmed after the second round to the low 70 scorers and ties. The low 35 finishers at the conclusion of the final round earn a berth in the 2004 Senior PGA Club Professional Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky on May 24-30.
The winner of the Callaway Golf PGA Senior CPC will have his name inscribed on the Leo F. Fraser Trophy and receive a check for $18,000 from the $260,000 purse.
Joining Fite are three other Hawai‘i golfers, Dennis Rose, Steve Hookano and Rodney Acia, all of the Big Island.
HSF/YMCA Pine Trees surf meet
H.S.F./Y.M.C.A. announces Contest #2 at Pine Trees in Hanalei for Nov. 1-2 with an alternate date of Nov. 8-9.
Categories include: Menehune (11 & Under), Boys 12-14, Junior Men 15-17, Open Men 18-24, Boys Bodyboard 14 & Under, Junior Bodyboard 15-17, and Women 17 & over.

The next H.S.F./Y.M.C.A. meet #3 is scheduled for First Ditch in Kekaha on Jan. 3-4, 2004 with alternate dates of Jan. 10-11.
BYUH No. 8 in poll
The Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i women’s volleyball team jumped five spots in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released on Tuesday, moving from 13th to eighth in the latest voting.
The Seasiders received two more first plae votes to increase to five, and 156 more points than last week.
Only four teams received first-place votes in the poll with third-ranked Barry, whom the Seasiders defeated in September receiving the most at 14.
Top-ranked Cal State – San Bernardino, who downed BYU-Hawai‘i in August garnered 13 first-place votes and leads second-place UC San Diego by 37 points.
The Seasiders and Tritons, who received just three first place votes, split a pair of matches earlier in the season.
BYU-Hawai‘i faces Chaminade this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Laie.
