KALAHEO — Victoria Espino posted a game-high 11 points for Wailua, but the effort fell short as the Westside Hornets bested Wailua 18-13 to open a marathon day of basketball in the county’s 14 Under Girls basketball played at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Gabby Matavochi led the Hornets’ scoring with six points.
Krystle Manguba-Glover notched 13 of the Westside Hornet II’s 32 points to lead the westsiders to a 32-11 showing over the Lihu’e Comets who were led by Kanoe Keliinoe’s five points.
Michelle Shea and Jamie Horikawa each fired in three points for the Westside Hornets who came up short 16-9 against In Yo’ Face who was led by guard Ashlyn Ubongen’s seven points in the win.
Sheana Mata’s eight points led the Westside Hornets II’s 22-6 win over the Kapa’a Mystics. Rebecka Duncan topped the Mystics’ scoring with five points.
Kristie Daly blazed for 15 points to lead the Kilauea Hui to a 32-20 showing over In Yo’ Face, Ubongen again leading the charge with a 10-point performance for Lihu’e.
