Striving to “capture the vision” of weddings, commercials as well as corporate events, Video Lynx is in the process of changing ownership.
The business has been on the island for eight years, five of which are in the office location in Lihu‘e in the Industrial Park 2.
Carrie and Shawn Riley are in the process of selling the company to Bob Cox, who brings 20 years of marketing and sales experience to the business.
For the past five years, Cox, who currently is the Manager of the Wedding Division for Video Lynx, has helped the Rileys with various aspects of the company including production and marketing.
Cox intends on continuing to offer the best possible product while adding new elements to the business.
“My goals are to expand the wedding services,” Cox said. “We also want to offer a higher degree of customer service.
“Our goal is to offer a quick turnaround (on produced videos) while maintaining the best possible quality.”
At its core, Video Lynx is a video production and editing studio in which approximately 10 staff members produce videos.
The staff can create videos in just about any format including, Sony DVCam, Panasonic DVCPro, and Mini DV as well as Beta, VHS, CD and DVD.
Also, Cox can digitally compress the videos into any format for the World Wide Web or CD-Rom.
Two of the more significant services that the company offers are wedding videos and commercial videos for various businesses.
In terms of the weddings, Cox and his staffers will coordinate with various clients which have included the Marriott and Radisson in creating short (20-30 minute) videos commemorating the special occasion.
The Video Lynx staffers use state of the art equipment including 3-chip digital video, non-linear editing, contemporary graphic and title designs and UHF balanced lavalier microphones.
“One of the biggest challenges for me is keeping up on all of the new technologies,” said Cox who is a native of Coeur d’Alene, ID.
“We strive to offer the best and newest technology for our clients.”
In addition to the wedding service, Video Lynx also works with various local businesses in creating promotional videos.
The company has created videos for both the Jack Harter and Blue Dolphin Helicopter tour services.
This past Wednesday, the company filmed a 30-second commercial for Pacific Cafe and is planning on designing videos for an upcoming doctor’s convention and massage studio.
“One of the things that we want to focus on in the future is expanding our commercial capabilities,” Cox said.
Cox and his staffers utilize a graphics workstation, sound recording room, a duplication facility and an Avid non-linear editing suite for many of their commercial videos.
