Mauro Galiza
Mauro Galiza, of Kapa’a, died Nov. 22, 2003, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.
Born Jan. 20, 1920, he was a laborer for Lihue Plantation.
Preceded in death by daughter Norma Galiza Aka, he is survived by his wife, Emilia Cadiz Galiza of Kapa’a; two sons, Villamor (Grace) Galiza and Jesus (Rodalita) Galiza; daughter Shirley (John) Carlson; brother, Frederico Ballesteros Cadiente; sisters, Maria Cadiente Boloson and Eugenia Cadiente Acob; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Lihu’e Aloha Church Assembly of God from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.
Carlos Gallardo
Carlos Gallardo, of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 18, 2003 at the age of 70.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i on May 7, 1933, he was a supervisor with GTE Hawaiian Telephone Company and also worked for Lihue Plantation and the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa.
He is survived by his wife, Magdalena; three sons, Stephen Gallardo of O’ahu, Jeffrey (Nornette) Gallardo of Kapa’a and Sandy (Shae) Gallardo of O’ahu; four daughters, Corinne (Eddie) Hamamura of Oahu, Kathleen (Robert) Medeiros of O’ahu, Valerie Gallardo of Hanama’ulu and Candice (Billy) Lanoza of Wailua; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Trina (Bob) Horan of Iowa, Judy (Domingo) Tomacder of O’ahu and Paula (Larry) Ballesteros of Lihu’e.
Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Minister Dominic Beralas will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.

Dagmar H. Takemoto
Dagmar H. Takemoto, of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at home on Nov. 18, 2003 at the age of 69.
Born in Hanalei, Kaua’i on Aug. 13, 1934, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by husband, Richard Y. Takemoto of Lihu’e, two sons, Miles I. (Charlene) Takemoto and Wade H. Takemoto both of Lihu’e; two daughters, Kim K. Takemoto Foster of Honolulu and Iris H. Takemoto of Lihu’e; two grandsons, Kyle and Mike; brother, Norman K. Kawamoto of Lihu’e; numerous uncles and aunts. Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Antone Martin Caldeira
Antone Martin Caldeira, of Kane’ohe, O’ahu, died Nov. 20, 2003, at Kaiser Hospital at the age of 76.
Born in Kalaheo, Kaua’i, on Nov. 11, 1927, he was with the City and County of Honolulu.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helga Kahiapo Caldeira and sons Edward Kimo Caldeira and Jason Keahi Caldeira. He is survived by son, Antone (Mona) Caldeira of Kane’ohe; daughters, Mary (Bobby) Silva of Waimanalo, O’ahu, Carolee (Naka) Nakamura of Kaneohe, O’ahu; Heidi (Gary Jardin) Caldeira of Anahola; Hokulani (Boy) Kila of Nanakuli, O’ahu; daughter-in-law Charlotte Caldeira of Hanapepe, Kaua’i; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Walter Caldeira of Santa Clara, Calif.; sisters Laura (Tony) Silva of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; and Margaret Duarte of Lihu’e, Kaua’i.
Friends may visit with the family on Nov. 28. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. with services at Borthwick Mortuary. Burial will be at 11 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery on O’ahu.
Kan Hing Chang
Kan Hing Chang, 64, of Honolulu, a retired Lockheed Martin Corporation laboratory technician, died Nov. 12, 2003, at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center on O’ahu. He was born in Wailua.
He is survived by son Derek Chang of Kula, Maui; daughter Trina (Robin) Cho of Kailua, O’ahu; and granddaughter Kayla Cho of Kailua, O’ahu.
Also surviving are five sisters: Esther Pang of Mililani, O’ahu; Bessie (Dan) Pang of Honolulu; Kim Moi Chang of Wailua; Yuki (Hiro) Hashimura of Kane’ohe, O’ahu; and Kim Look Chang of Wailua; and three brothers: Kan Chong (Beverly) Chang of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; Kan Yin (Doris) Chang of Kapa’a; and Kan Kim (Patsy) Chang of Fresno, Calif.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the First Assembly of God church in Red Hill, O’ahu (3400 Moanalua Rd.). Services are at 7 p.m. The family suggests aloha attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
Rosario Lucy Gomes
Rosario Lucy Gomes, 76, of Waipahu, O’ahu, died Nov. 18, 2003, at Kapi’olani Medical Center at Pali Momi. A secretary with Jimmy’s Fence Company, she was born in Makaweli on Jan. 21, 1927, and was an outstanding athlete at Waimea High School in 1945.
She is survived by two sons: Alexander D. (Sandy) Manadic Jr. and Leland L. (Debbie) Manadic Sr.; and five daughters: Lucille A. (Michael) Castillano; Millie L. Gomes; L. Ku’umealoha Gomes; Joan K. (Kenneth) Perry of Kona, Hawai’i; Jamesey (James) Lang of Kona, Hawai’i.
Also surviving are two brothers: Pablo (Clara) Maligro and Gus Meligro of Washington; and one sister, Connie Canales. There are 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel, with rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation is also Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 8:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, 94-675 Farrington Hwy., with mass at 9:45 a.m., and burial at 11 a.m. at Mililani Memorial Park.
The family suggests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary.
