Kehau Silva had 10 kills with Tina Moger adding seven kills as Kaua‘i High School girls volleyball secured the consolation championship with a 25-15, 25-17 win over Kealakehe Friday morning.
Anna Quibilan had nine digs in the win.
Antoinette Alapai and Corinna Oliva led Kealakehe with six kills and nine digs each in the loss.
Krissy Thompson dug four and Leila Kanuha had eight digs for the Big Island team.
Kalaheo def. Waimea, 25-20-, 23-25, 26-24
Waimea led game three 23-19 following a Jeremy McDown kill, but Kalaheo closed to 22-23.
A Joshua Cabral kill brought the Menehune to match point, but Sam Wilhoite’s 14th kill and a block by Wilhoite and Chris Tumaneng stalemated the contest 24-24.
A Waimea attack error put the Mustangs up 25 – 24, with another Wilhoite and Tumaneng block sealing Waimea’s fate.
McDown led the Menehune with nine kills with Cabral adding six. Kollin Morikawa picked up 11 digs with Bryan Hayashi digging up nine for Waimea.
Wilhoite led the Kalaheo attack with 14 kills followed by Elias Ayau adding eight kills and eight digs.
William Elliott helped with seven kills and Mana Guerreiro finished with six digs in the win.
Kaua‘i bowlers finish 7th at states
Mei Ling Keopuhiwa led the Kaua‘i High School girls bowling team to an overall seventh finish as the Billy Tees HHSAA Bowling Championships wrapped up Friday afternoon at Hilo Lanes.
Keopuhiwa, who was sixth overall following Thursday’s matches with 1,057, slipped to a tie for tenth overall in the individual standings with a 1,551 pin count along with Kapolei’s Samantha Masuda.
Noelle Campos, who finished 13th overall with a 1,029 pin count following six games on Thursday afternoon, could not improve to the top 10 on Friday’s finals.
Kapolei finished first in the team standings with a 7,300 pin count compared with the Kaua‘i girls’ 6,740 total.
The Kaua‘i High School boys team finished the competition in 11th place overall with a 7,301 pin count compared with the first place showing by Moanalua, who tallied 8460 to take the top slot.
No Red Raider boys made the top ten individualists.
