Chamber to hold annual meeting
The Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club, will be having its Annual General Membership Meeting and 15th Annual Silent Auction on Dec. 9.
The event is sponsored by Kaua‘i Community Federal Credit Union and will be at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club. Registration is at 5:30 p.m.
Our keynote speaker will be Rear Admiral Michael S. Roesner, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, U.S. Navy.
Also on tap for the evening is our Annual Board of Directors installation. Thanks to our directors and officers, the Chamber has been successful in serving Kauai’s business community.
Flora to have event
The Aloha Medical Center’s Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for today from 11-5 p.m.
The center is the new business home for Dr. Paul Flora, who previously worked at the Kuhio Medical Center.
Pixler moves on to Clinic
Mary Pixler, M.D. formerly with Kauai Medical Clinic, has been recruited by Kalaheo Clinic, to take the place for retiring physician Thomas E. Harrison, M.D.
Dr. Pixler came to Kauai in 1993 after six years in a solo Internal Medicine practice in Pennsylvania. She was born in Pennsylvania and attended Bucknell University where she received the Elizabeth M. Olyphant award for science.
Dr. Pixler has special interests in diabetes, osteoporosis and disease management.
Her hobbies include paddling, bicycling and weight training.
Tennberg promoted at Center
Cheryl Tennberg was promoted from Head Nurse of the OB Unit to Assistant Director of Nursing effective Sept. 16.
In her new position, Tennberg is responsible for organizing, directing, planning, coordinating and evaluating the activities of the Nursing Department and implementing the provision of health care services.
She is also responsible to oversee and insure that the individualized age-appropriate care needs of the newborn, pediatric, adult and geriatric patient population are provided.
Cheryl has been with the West Kauai Medical Center/KVMH since March 1, 1990.
In addition to Tennberg, Paige Moura is being appointed to a Private Secretary I.
In her new classification, she serves as the personal and confidential assistant to the Kauai Region CEO.
In addition, she provides secretarial support to the Governor’s appointed Kauai Public Health Facilities Management Advisory Committee (PHFMAC), an advisory board to the hospital, and to the Joint Conference Committee, a committee of the Governing Body.
Moura has been with West Kauai Medical Center/KVMH since March 19, 1997.
