Rumors destroy friendships and marriages
Imagine for a moment that you have a piece of wood, a nail, and a hammer. The wood represents a person, the nail represents an UNSUBSTANTIATED rumor, and the hammer is you, the culprit that started it.
When you hit the nail and drive it in, you are obviously hurting him or her. If you remove the nail the hole remains and the damage is done. Friendships and marriages are possibly left in dismay. For some people friendships that may or may not be with members of the opposite sex could outlast even the strongest of marriages. These relationships can become quite intimate, but not in the light that you portray.
Intimacy comes in all forms, not just sexual. Haven’t you ever had a close friend that you trusted so deeply that you could open yourself to and know that he or she would be there for you? If not, then I pity you.
Don’t you know that rumors are simply forms of bullying? What have we, the victims, ever done to you to deserve such a heinous act?
Are you trying to destroy trust in families, or are you simply trying to feel superior? There are many reasons why people start rumors; for a sense or feeling of control or power, out of jealousy or boredom, or even to feel like part of a group. Perhaps you should think about your intentions before you intervene in people’s lives. After all, you COULD HAVE destroyed four lives.
