Anthony P. “Antone” Balocan of Koloa died in Koke‘e on Nov. 27, 2003 at the age of 45.
Born in Hawai‘i on Sept. 17, 1958, he was an equipment operator for the County of Kaua‘i at the Hanapepe baseyard. He worked for the County of Kaua‘i for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife, Laureen Naumu-Balocan of Koloa; parents, Ali Sr. and Corazon Balocan of Koloa; three brothers, Ali Balocan Jr., of Koloa, Alan (Dawn) Balocan, of Waimea and Bully (Penny) Balocan of Hanapepe; three sisters, Alicia (Stanley) Sarmiento of Kapa‘a, Cora (Ted) Garma of Hanapepe, Gloria (Alan) Hiranaka of Kapa‘a; parents-in-law, Harold and Amy Naumu of Lihu‘e, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, Dec. 6, from 8 to 10 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church. Eulogies and sharing to begin at 10 a.m. Mass will be held at 11 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Jose Dinong
Jose Dinong of Hanama‘ulu died Nov. 30, 2003, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
A laborer for Dole Pineapple, he was born Nov. 6, 1921, in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife, Alejandra Y. Dinong of Hanama‘ulu; four daughters: Zenaida (Mario) Valmoja of Hanama‘ulu; Helen Dinong of Lanai; Amelia (Lambert) Hidalgo of Las Vegas, and Josephine Dinong of Canada; four sons, Floro Dinong of Kaua‘i, Jose Dinong of Lana‘i, Juanito Dinong of Kaua‘i, and Romea Dinong of Minnesota; one brother, Alfredo (Virginia) Dinong of Honolulu; four granddaughters and nine grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, Dec. 5, at 3980 Hoolepe St., Hanama‘ulu from 4 p.m. and again Saturday, Dec. 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, 8 – 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Joe. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Honorio M. Pascual
Honorio M. Pascual of Hanama‘ulu, died at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Nov. 30, 2003 at the age of 77.
Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Dec. 15, 1925, he was a seed cutter with Kekaha Sugar.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Piedad Pascual; five children, Fely (Ruben) Lagundino of Hanama‘ulu, Edmund (Cora) Pascual of Hanama‘ulu, Delia (Henry) Bumagat of Hanapepe, Ruven (Stacy) Pascual of Arizona and Josie (Jaime) Pablo of Kapa‘a; grandchildren, Sunshine Pascual, Kathleen Pascual, Ferdinand Lagundino, Jr., Ourigner Lagundino, David Lagundino, Nathan Lagundino, Leah Lagundino-Gaines, Joshua Lagundino, Harold Bumagat, Daniel Bumagat, Ryan Pascual, Chanelle Pascual, Keegan Morin-Pascual, Melissa Pascual, Veronica Pablo and Maegan Pablo; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Kadesha and Tiani Lagundino.
Friends may visit with the family at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church; funeral mass officiated by Father Joe will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation also at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; farewell prayer at 10:30 a.m. Followed by burial at the Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Nora B. Valera
Nora B. Valera of Puhi, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 1, 2003 at the age of 39.
Born in the Philippines on Feb. 17, 1964, she was a sales representative with Koa Trading.
Preceded in death by her father, Galicano Balisacan, mother, Leonarda Balisacan, brother, Andres Balisacan and sister, Leoncia Balisacan.
She is survived by her husband, Danny of Puhi; daughter, Nicole of Puhi; parents, Eduardo and Melchora Balisacan; five brothers, Roland (Ethel) Balisacan of ‘Ele‘ele, Mamerto Balisacan of California, Eduard “Bobot” Balisacan, of Philippines, Vicente Balisacan, of Philippines, and Roger Balisacan, of Philippines; three sisters, Imelda (Rocky) Riopta of Kahului, Maui, Irene (Richard) Jardin of Nashville, Tenn., and Jennifer (Gerald) Elan of Lana‘i City, Lana‘i; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 6 – 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also 8 – 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 9 a.m. Followed by burial at Lihu‘e Cemetery.
