LAIE, HI — the Brigham Young University-Hawai’i men’s basketball team jumped four places in the Division II Bulletin national rankings released today.
The Seasiders moved up to number 18 after last week’s defeat of Hawai’i Pacific raised their overall record to 15-2. the Seasiders have won 14 straight games, just one shy of the school record for consecutive victories.
BYU-Hawai’i also continues to be among the nation’s statistical leaders. The Seasiders are second nationally in field goal percentage (52.3), 14th in free throw percentage (75.1), and 35th in three-point percentage (39.4).
Sophomore guard Shawn Opunui tops the nation in three-point shooting accuracy with 57.3 percent and is 18th in three-pointers made per game with 3.2. He also ranks 31st in free throw percentage at 86.3. Junior center Jake Chrisman holds down the 27th spot nationally in scoring average with 20.9 points per game.
