Biggest danger is condition of track
WHO said there is safety in numbers? Well, walking at 5 a.m. in the morning darkness of night can be a bit scary … but not from other human beings or the big bad wolf or the boogey man … it is the condition of the walking / running track at Kekaha Park.
Many of us who walk daily in the early hour of the morning must always be mindful of the treachery of the walk itself because of the uneven ground, the existing holes and other protruding elements that are not visible in the dark! What would it take for a little repair done at the Kekaha Park’s track? It is not like we are asking for so much in life. Our quest is to remain healthy as we go through the aging or healing process of perhaps a recent illness or disability.
On behalf of each and every one of us who utilizes the track in some form or other, I would like to put in our humble plea to improve and or repair the track so it will be a safe place for all of us, young and old alike, to walk or run or jog.
Respectfully submitted,
Romang Tumbaga Peake

Games should not be during break
For the past few years during the Winter break there have been KIF games in action. Many people would agree in saying that there shouldn’t be games in the middle of break.
We have winter vacation to take a break from everything and spend time with family and friends, not to be playing sports. Waimea and Kapa’a had to practice during the break because of a soccer game on the 27th of December, as well as Kauai High with a game against Waimea on the 3rd of January. Having these games during the break limits the time we have to spend with our family and friends while on Winter break.
It would be nice to see in the near future games not being played during the break, giving everybody a chance to spend time with family and friends for the holidays.
