A high-surf warning from the National Weather Service remains in effect for north- and west-facing shores of Kaua’i due to what’s expected to be a swell of 20 to 30 feet throughout today.
Beaches may be closed along the North Shore by County of Kaua’i lifeguards, for the safety of residents and visitors.
Large surf is expected to hit the North Shore and Westside through the week.
The northwest swell is expected to slowly subside Wednesday, and an even-larger, west-northwest swell is expected to arrive late Wednesday.
The new swell is expected to peak Thursday, with surf heights above the high-surf warning level of 25 feet. The Thursday swell is expected to diminish slowly Friday and Saturday, with yet another west-northwest swell expected Sunday, with surf heights of 15 feet forecast.
In the National Weather Service reports, surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves.
