HHSAA state regatta rescheduled
The Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association (HHSAA)/First Hawaiian Bank State Canoe Paddling championship regatta has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28 starting at 8 a.m. at Ke‘ehi Lagoon, O‘ahu.
The 24-race, three-division event was postponed Friday due to adverse weather conditions.
If weather conditions do not permit holding the races on Saturday, this year’s championships will be cancelled according to Hartwell Lee Loy, canoe paddling coordinator for the HHSAA.
Numerous complications, including travel and lodging for Neighbor Island teams, and the availability of volunteers to conduct the meet would make another postponement not feasible said a spokesman for the HHSAA.
