Fourteen-year-old surfer Shaye Donnelly from ‘Omao finished second in the Open Women’s divison and fourth in the Explorer Women’s division last weekend at the National Scholastic Surfing Association contest held at Ho‘okipa on Maui.
Donnelly was the highest finishing female Kaua‘i surfer in the competition, and has a first place and second place finish to her credit this year.
The young Kaua‘i surfer is a Kaua‘i High School students and usually surfs at South Shore breaks.
Donnelly is emerging as a top girls surfer in Hawai‘i, and had a first place at the PKs contest held in September.
