Lady Menehune Basketball Classic kicks off Today
Girls basketball teams from Waialua of the OIA and Punahou II of the ILH will take on the KIF entries as Waimea High School hosts their Lady Menehune Basketball Classic starting Thursday afternoon and running through Saturday, Feb. 28.
The host Menehune will tangle with their JV Menehune starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 followed by Waialua meeting up with Kaua‘i at approximately 6 p.m. The final game on Thursday will feature the Punahou II matching up against Kapa‘a starting at about 7:30 p.m.
Friday’s games will have Kaua‘i meeting Punahou II starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by Waimea taking on Waialua at about 7:30 p.m.
Kapa‘a will meet Waialua on Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m. with host Waimea taking on Punahou II starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The tournament follows a shoot-out format where all outer-island teams will play Kaua‘i teams giving all teams an opportunity to get in some early games.
Games start approximately 20 minutes following the completion of the preceding game with no champion being crowned.
Kaua‘i Motorcross Riders Association
The Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association is holding their second race of the 2004 season this Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
The public is invited to enjoy a day of thrills and excitement at the motorcycle races at the Wailua Motocross Park.
Look for the sign on the Lihu‘e side of the Wailua Golf Course.
KMRA also hosts the 50th Annual Labor Day Race that is considered to be the Pro Bowl of motocross where top off-island racers and pros come to the Kaua‘i Challenge to try and earn the coveted #1 plate in each class.
NYC Auntie Louise Memorial race series continues
The Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Auntie Louise Memorial Race Series continues this Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Nawiliwili Harbor.
The third race of the five-race series will begin at 5 p.m., and the public is invited to view the race from the harbor jetty as well as attend the post-race gathering at the NYC clubhouse at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor.
