Amy Tamura
Amy Sumiko Miyashiro Sarmento Tamura, of Puhi, died on Feb. 11, 2004 at the age of 78.
Born in Kukui‘ula, on Feb. 19, 1925, she was a waitress with Tip Top Café.
She is survived by son, William Sarmento Jr. of Lawa‘i; two daughters, Sheila McLaughlin of Veazie, Maine and Linda Saker of Puhi; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Masa Agina of Lihu‘e and James Miyashiro of O‘ahu; sister, Betty Konishi of Kalaheo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service officiated by Matt Higa will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Casual attire is suggested.

Gaylord Perreira
Gaylord Gonsalves Perreira, of Lihu‘e, died at home on Feb. 14, 2004 at the age of 64.
Born in Lihu‘e on May 18, 1939, he was a retired Fire Captain with the Kaua‘i Fire Department.
He is survived by wife, Andrita Suero Perreira; two sons, Ryan Russell (Joe-Ann) Perreira of Waipio, O‘ahu and Wesley Frank Perreira of Lihu‘e; daughter, Trisha Anne Perreira of Lihu‘e; five grandchildren; mother, Amelia Louis Perreira; brother, Gregory Louis Perreira of Lihu‘e; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and foster children.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass to begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

Yoshio Ogomori
Yoshio Ogomori, of Mountain View, Hawai‘i, died Feb. 10, 2004, at Hilo Medical Center at the age of 86.
Born in Papaikou, Hawai‘i on March 21, 1917, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and also retired from Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 19, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 5 p.m.; inurnment to follow on Friday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. at Hawai‘i Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo. The family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
He is survived by his wife: Toyono Ogomori of Mt. View, Hawai‘i; sons: Calvin (Kimi) Ogomori of Japan and Harvey (Janice) Ogomori of Wahiawa, O‘ahu; daughters Beryl (Roy) Hokama of Hilo and Arlett (Darrel) Hara of Kapa‘a; brothers Masashi (Kimi) Ogomori of California, Satoshi (Teruko) Ogomori of O‘ahu, Michio (Nancy) Ogomori of California and Susumu Ogomori of Hilo, Hawai‘i; sisters: Tokie Kido of O‘ahu, June Takemoto of O‘ahu, and Mitzie (Riki) Okada of O‘ahu; six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Sugiko Tada
Sugiko Tada of ‘Aiea, O‘ahu, died at Pearl City Nursing Home on Feb 4, 2004, at the age of 92.
Born in Lihu‘e on Feb. 23, 1911, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters, Irene (Albert) Kuroda of Honolulu, Jane Sato of Honolulu, Edith (Saburo) Yoshioka of Kalaheo, and Dora (Edward) Sato of Honolulu; sister, Ichiko Yoshida of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Private services were held. The family asks that no monetary donations be sent.
Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Mortuary on O‘ahu.
Walter Koga
Walter Koga, of Kilauea, died Feb. 7, 2004, at Samuel Mahelona Hospital.
Born July 29, 1914, in Hule‘ia, Kaua‘i, he retired from McBryde Sugar Company as a power operator and most recently retired as a taro farmer in Hanalei.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sunada-Koga and son, Herbert Koga. He is survived by three daughters: Jane (James) Watanabe of California, Jean (Miguel) Legaspi of Kekaha, and Joyce (Adam) Santos of Mililani, O‘ahu; one son, Wallace (Veronica) Koga of Kapa‘a; sisters, Emma Miyabara of San Jose, Calif., and Annie (Mitsuru) Yoshimoto of Washington; brothers, George (Doris) Koga of Hanalei and Albert (May) Koga; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at Hanalei Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with services at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Hanalei Community Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Audrey Jhun Chun
Audrey K.T. Jhun Chun, 69 of Kuli‘ou‘ou Valley, died Feb. 6, 2004 at her residence.
Born in Honolulu on Feb. 15, 1934, she was a retired State of Hawai‘i Department of Education employee. and Ahahui Ka‘ahumanu Society.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Chun; sons, Peter (Erin) Neizmen of Volcano, Barry (Kasa) Neizmen of Volcano, Brian (Kanani) Neizmen of Hilo, Glen (Kathy) Neizmen of Ewa Beach, Darren Neizmen of Honolulu; daughter, Cheryl (Darryl) Gonzales of Kapa‘a; stepsons, Keith (Diane) Chun of New Jersey, Rodney (Terry) Chun of San Francisco; stepdaughters, Cathy (John) Cannon of Hawai‘i Kai, Kimberly Chun of Honolulu; sisters, Elizabeth Adams of Honolulu, Gertude LeBron of Waipahu, Julia Faustino of Palolo, Carmen (Ron) Staszkow of Palolo, Marie (Ken) Ng of Salt Lake, Isabella (Stephen) Hong of Palolo, Betsy (Sheridan) Hinau of Kihei; brother, Peter (Blossom) Jhun of Palolo; 13 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Edna Manukafoa
Edna Carveiro Manukafoa of ‘Ele‘ele, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Feb. 11, 2004 at the age of 76.
Born in ‘Ele‘ele, on Dec. 30, 1927, she was a homemaker.
Survived by six sons, two daughters, Arline Sullivan of ‘Ele‘ele and Sheila Jimenez of California; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in ‘Ele‘ele; service officiated by Father Biz will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Louis Gonsalves
Louis Caravalho Gonsalves of Mililani, O‘ahu, died on Feb. 2, 2004, after a short illness, at the age of 86.
Born in ‘Oma‘o on June 17, 1917, before his retirement and moving to O‘ahu, he was district overseer for the County of Kaua‘i and also a Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony, of California.
Services were held at United Gospel Church in Mililani on Friday, Feb. 13.
He is survived by his wife Pilipa of Mililani; one son Melvin Gonsalves of Anahola; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Gonsalves; and one sister, Sophie Akita of Lihu‘e.
Memorial services will be held at Port Allen Small Boat Harbor over his ashes on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m. Following the services, his ashes will be scattered at sea from Port Allen.
