Hannah Kahawaii Niau Kaili
Hannah Kahawaii Niau Kaili, 78, died on March 18, 2004, in Provo, Utah. She was born in Kalihikai on Aug. 1, 1925.
She is survived by one son: Harrom (Marvel) Kaili of Puyallup, Wash.; three daughters: Dora (Kent) Daley of Provo, Utah, with whom she lived before moving from Makaweli, Harriet (William) Malapit of Wailuku, Maui and Emmaline Kaili of Lihu‘e; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister: Louisa (Larry) Tachikawa of Puhi; sisters-in-law: Lei Niau and Helen Dotimas; brother-in-law: George Kahalekomo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was educated in Hanalei. She labored in taro patches, pineapple and sugar cane fields, and was a hotel housemaid; she was also an entrepreneur who sold maile and mokihana berries.
A celebration of life will be held with a viewing on Thursday, April 1, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Borthwick Kauai Mortuary chapel, 3168 Poipu Road in Koloa. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kekaha Ward. Burial will be at Kauai Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Hanapepe, beside her husband Joseph N. Kaili.

Mary Carlos
Mary Carlos of Kapa‘a died at home on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the age of 84.
Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines on March 5, 1920, she was a homemaker and an active member of the Kapaa Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Preceded in death by her husband Nemesio Mandac Carlos, she is survived by one son: Robert (Anita) Arconado of San Dimas, Calif.; three daughters: Evelyn (Bob) Haygood of Moss Point, Miss., Elizabeth Eaton of Kapa‘a and Erleen “Lynn” Spears of Kapa‘a; five grandchildren, Paul (Kathy) Spears of Wailua Homesteads, Randy Spears of Kapa‘a, Michael (Dee Dee) Arconado of Chino Hills, Calif., Michelle (Ronnie) Kingi of San Dimas, Calif. and Lisa Frankovich of Portland, Ore.; and seven great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers: Joseph (Leona) Miguel of Apple Valley, Calif. and Paul Miguel of Germany; sister Florida (Frank) Padron of Honolulu and sister-in-law Jane Miguel of Pasadena, Calif.
Visitation with the family will be held at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with services at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 25. Burial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 26, at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Richard E. Fuller
Richard E. Fuller of Po‘ipu died at home on March 25, 2004 at the age of 86. Born in Groveland, Mass. on Sept. 12, 1917, he was a retired boat captain with Dyna Electron at Port Allen Harbor.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons: Richard (Adelia) Fuller, Jr., of Po‘ipu and Ryan (Kathy) Baniaga of Texas; four daughters: Kathrine (Gary) Akiona of Honolulu, Sandra (Kent) Baniaga-Brown of Nevada, Sharla Baniaga of Florida and Reanella Fuller of Texas; eight grandchildren; and sister, Ellen Whitney of Colorado.
Friends may visit with the family at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, at the West Kauai Methodist Church in Kaumakani; service officiated by pastor Jim Brooking will begin at 2 p.m. followed by inurnment at the Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
