Robert J. H. Gouveia, a 24-year-old Wailua man, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree robbery in Circuit Court Tuesday relating to the Feb. 16 robbery of the Lihu‘e 7-Eleven.
He will be sentenced on May 20.
Gouveia apparently entered the 7-Eleven around 3:30 a.m. Feb. 16 and, claiming he had a knife, robbed a store clerk.
He took an undisclosed amount from the cash register, and fled on foot. He was arrested late last month.
Kaua‘i Police Department Lt. Regina Ventura would still not give the dollar amount taken, what the circumstances of the case where, or whether Gouveia confessed to the crime. All she would say is that Gouveia made a statement.
Second-degree robbery is a class-B felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
