Fukiko Sakuda Hamamura of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 13, 2004 at the age of 85.
Born in Wahiawa, Kaua‘i on June 13, 1918, she was a seamstress & homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Kerry (Junko) Hamamura of Oceanside, California and Eric (Angie) Hamamura of Cupertino, Calif.; two daughters, Cheryl (Melvin) Morris of Lawai, and Darlene (Walter) Holland of Bremerton, Washington; brother-in-law, Dr. Edward Hamamura of Honolulu, O‘ahu; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, at the Kapaa Jodo Mission; service officiated by Rev. Shoryu Akiya will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Victor Thomas Schaub of California died April 12, 2004, on Kaua‘i, at the age of 61.
An attorney and teacher at Kaua‘i Community College, he was born Feb. 4, 1943, in California.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra J. Schaub of California; one daughter, Heidi M. (Jonathan) Claasen of California; one son, Michael David Schaub; parents, Thomas and Marjoria Schaub; two sisters, Regina (Dave) Bushor of California and Lynne (Tony) Mangan of Anahola; two brothers, Christopher J. (Michele) Schaub of California and Mark J. (Victoria) Schaub of California; and two grandchildren.
Private services were held at Anahola Beach Park. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Mary V. Anderton
Mary V. Anderton died April 9, 2004 at the age of 56 from complications caused by ovarian cancer.
The owner of Payroll Services Hawaii, Mary earned her captain’s license and was planning to sail the British Virgin Islands when she was diagnosed.
Mary was born Nov. 2, 1947 in Evanston, Ill. Always loving the ocean, Mary was an avid and accomplished sailor and surfer; and her photographs have been featured in “Surfer Magazine.”
Mary adored animals and provided a loving home to many over her lifetime. Currently, her little “Dream” kitten has been her constant companion and their bond is extraordinary.
She is survived by her mother, Elaine Carmel; brother, Russell D. Gillespie; sister, Carolyn A. Woods; nephews, Alexander K. Royal and Douglas S. Royal. She will be greatly missed by her family and closest friends, Gerald Saunders, Jon Anderton and Don Bogowitz. Mary treasured her friends on the North Shore and will be missed by all.
