The Seventh Annual Kaua‘i Invitational Tournament started off with a bang, Thursday at Kalaheo Gym. Tab Matsumoto came out firing away with 19 points to lead all scorers in the first game, but it wasn’t enough as Akeem Allen’s 12 put West Kaua‘i gave them the win, 49-46. Ikaika Basketball flexed its muscles and beat up Waimea, 56-34 in the second contest of the evening.
Matthew Gochenover led Ikaika with 12 and Chris Newcomb added nine for Waimea. The third game was all Kalaheo, who defeated Waimea, 62-37. Matsumoto continued his hot streak with 13 points and Jordon Dizon helped out with 11 points. Newcomb led Waimea with eight points.
