There was no looking back after that. Breakaway scored double digits in each of the periods leading the Warriors at the half 30-15. Basil Walton led the Breakaway with 13 points while Jonathan Gebauer had 11 points. Kyle VanBuskirsk led the Warriors attack scoring 10 points before fouling out in the fourth period while Tommy Patch added 6 points.
In the girls 12-and-under semi-finals it was #2 seed Kaumakani Supersonics edging out the #3 seed Westside Hornets 26-22. Kaumakani led going into the final period by six points but the Hornets fought back in the final period coming within 2 points of tieing the match up in the final minutes.
Sera Pascual kept the Sonic lead scoring 6 of her 8 points in the final period to lead the Supersonics. Jondell Accret-Ipoc and Brandi Briones led the Hornets with 6 points each.
The second match was #1 seed Lihue Comets against #4 seed Wailua. Lihu‘e controlled this game from the start scoring 8 points in each of the first 3 periods and eventually went on to win, 31-12. Wailua stayed close in the first period scoring 5 of their overall 12 points. The Comets Sanoe Keliindi had a game high of 10 points while Wailua’s Jondi Das scored 6 points for the Wailua club.
Number 3 seed C-Town upsets #2 seed Hanamaulu Boys, 32-25 in boys 12-and-under action. The last time these two teams played it was down to the wire with the Boys winning by only a few points.
It looked like the same thing was going to happen after the half with the Boys winning 20-16 at the half way mark. But C-Town kept their composure and continued playing tough. It was Kealoha Lopez land Kekoa Colipano leading the C-Town attack in the final two periods scoring 6 points a piece to keep the lead. Kealoha Lopez had the game high of 11 points for C-Town while Cameron Largusa led the Boys with 8 points.
Game 5: Lihue Maniacs 37 – Westside Hornets 23
The number one seed Maniacs controlled this game from the start, executing plays and playing tough defense throughout the game and winning, 37-23.
The Hornets never let up, coming out the second half with a more aggressive defense which sent the Maniacs to the charity line where they could not capitalize. The Hornets gained ground yet it was to late in the game. Jordan Tottori led the Maniacs with a 11 points while Bransen Agu led the Hornets with 12 points. Tuesday’s games at Kapa‘a shall be Boys 12 and Under Division: Game 1 at 6:00 p.m. — Hanamaulu Boys v.s. Westside Hornets for 3rd Place Game 2 at 7:00 p.m. — Lihu‘e Maniacs v.s. C-Town for the Championship Game.
Game 3 at 8:00 p.m. will be the kick-off to the boys 19-and-unders with ZZ v.s. Kapa‘a Warriors.
