Kawamoto, who spent the school year as a junior at Kaua‘i High School opted to wait until after experiencing the July Fourth celebration before returning to Shiba in Moriyama City. While here, she was hosted by Char Ono and Darrick Nordmeier whose son Akira is staying with the Kawamoto family in Japan.
