Pamela M. Rivera earned an associate of arts degree in nursing at Rivier College in New Hampshire. She is the wife of Larry Rivera Jr.
Jensen K. Adviento of Lihu‘e received a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.

Ken Aramaki of Lihu‘e was listed on the 2004 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Portland. Aramaki is a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering. Students need at least a 3.5 grade point average to make the dean’s list. The University of Portland is Oregon’s Catholic University. It is the only school in Orgeon to offer a college of arts and sciences, a graduate school and nationally-accredited schools of business, engineering and nursing.
Six Kaua‘i students earned bachelors degrees from the 135th commencement exercises of Oregon State University. The school had a record 4,199 students who sought a record 4,323 degrees; commencement ceremonies were held for the 2,300 students who participated.

The OSU undergraduate ceremony featured as guest speaker former senator and astronaut John H. Glenn, whose pioneering space flight in 1962 launched a new era in space exploration. Glenn returned to space in 1998 after four terms in the U.S.
Senate at the age of 77. OSU is one of the few major universities where students receive their actual diplomas during the commencement, not a replica.

Alicia Turlington, a resident of Kalaheo, was awarded a bachelor’s degree during Providence College commencement ceremonies held recently.
Turlington received the Rev. Charles V. Reichert, O.P. Award, which is presented to a senior who best exemplifies dedication to the advancement of the biological sciences as evidenced by his or her scholarship, intellectual curiosity, disciplined perserverance, and scientific integrity.
A biology and english double major, Turlington graduated with magna cum laude honors, was a member of the Portugese Club, Biology Society, Hospitals Committee and was a volunteer at Butler Hospital. She will attend the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
