Island Air is expanding to Kaua‘i soon, and its leaders are looking to fill slots at its Lihu‘e Airport station.
The inter-island air carrier is running advertisements in The Garden Island newspaper today and tomorrow for ramp agents, customer service agents, and a customer service manager.
“Our vision is to distinguish Island Air through service excellence, where customers leave us feeling that they are friends and family,” reads the ad. “Are you dependable, reliable, self-motivated and willing to take initiative and share the aloha spirit?”
Island Air’s President and Chief Executive Officer Neil Takekawa told The Garden Island in May that they’re looking to fill at least 10 positions here, and that service to and from Lihu‘e could start as soon as November.
According to Island Air’s Web site, pay for ramp agents and customer-service agents starts at $6.25 per hour, including benefits.
All airplane maintenance work will be done on O‘ahu. But the Web site also lists mechanic pay as starting at $12.90 per hour.
Island Air expects a shipment of five, 37-passenger turbo prop de Havilland DASH-8s, which will bring their fleet to nine planes.
With the expansion of service to Lihu‘e, Takekawa said that he expects the new schedule will include three to four daily round-trip flights between Honolulu and Lihu‘e, and one round-trip between Lihu‘e and Kahului.
Interviews for the Kaua‘i positions will be held at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort’s Midori Executive Room near Hanama‘ulu.
Interviews for the customer service manager position at the Lihu‘e station are by appointment only, and résumés should be faxed by Friday to 1-808-836-1226.
Benefits for the positions include: HMSA single plan paid for Island Air, 401k, spending plans, group life insurance for full-time employees, free travel on Island Air, and discounted travel on other airlines.
Requirements include a valid drivers license, a high school diploma or the equivalent, the ability to life 70 pounds and the ability to commute well.
There is a possibly of overnighting in Honolulu for one to two weeks of training.
