It’s football, and during the off-season, the stork has been busy as Nicholas Joseph Abramo III made his appearance on Aug.
11 (thank you, Marina Octavio!).
And, Marina hasn’t been idle either as her daughter Serafran Octavio-Callejo welcomed their newest additon, a 10 pound, 12 ounce baby boy, Jesse James Kealaokamaile John Wayne Octavio-Callejo on Aug. 16! But, it doesn’t end there as at the pre-season game between Kapa‘a and Waialua, the Warriors’ trainer and photo guy, Sam and Manny Henriques, will be welcoming their first-born (it’s a boy!) just about Christmas! Congratulations to them, too! The only thing missing at Friday night’s game was Ron Kouchi – that, according to the inventor of the Hole-e-Cow (as opposed to dog) who was on hand to supervise the student crew of Miulan Cardenas, Julie Pescador, Rochelle Miguel, and Mahie Ferreira as they whipped out those sweet bread buns filled with just the right amount of mangobango secret sauce for the polish dog…is that a Warrior dog? No. It’s a hole-e-cow! And, to wash it all down, the Kaluahine Big Toe shave ice just hits the spot (the mayor was enjoying his in the second quarter next to the KPD detail).
Now that the salivary glands are working, if you’re looking for some good recipes (Kapa‘a team mom Dorothy Yadao’s favorite is the pan sushi with a twist), check out Pono Market or Cleo’s Lei Shop for your copy of “Recipes and Rememberances.” Dorothy says you gotta have the pan sushi with the korean nori (can’t eat just one!), and Jaye Youn of the Radisson Kaua‘i Beach Resort said she found a recipe in the book that she was seeking out for years.
