Hiralene “Hira” Uilani Ahmoi Johnson
Hiralene “Hira” Uilani Ahmoi Johnson of Wailua, died Aug. 18, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 42.
An office manager at Kaua‘i Sands and also a teacher’s aide at Kapaa Elementary School, she was born Nov. 12, 1961, in Wahiawa, O‘ahu.
She is survived by her husband: Scott Johnson of Wailua; five daughters: Mohala Johnson of Washington, Keolalani Johnson of Honolulu, Kuuleimana Johnson of Honolulu, Mikiala Johnson of Wailua and Leialalani Johnson of Wailua; parents: Hiram and Leimomi Hee of Wailua; two hanai children: Wesley Hee of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kehaulani Hee of Wailua; two sisters: Wendy (Kalani) Cotner of Baghdad, and Kee-Lan (David) Lambert of Arizona; two brothers; Henry “Keave” (Grace) Hee of Hanama‘ulu and Hiram “Mel” (Amy) Hee of California; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 10 a.m. to 11:45, where services will be celebrated at noon.
Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
George Matsunaga
George Matsunaga, of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Aug. 23, 2004, at the age of 66.
Born in Lihu‘e, on Jan. 22, 1938, he was a retired librarian with Hanalei and Kilauea Elementary Schools.
Preceded in death by his wife, Susanne M. Matsunaga; brother, Seichi Ogata; sister, Grace Humphreys; brothers-in-law, Harutoshi Hironaka and Bill Humphreys; and sister-in-law, Amy Ogata, he is survived by two sons, Kevin (Aileen) Matsunaga of Lihu‘e and Ryan Matsunaga of New York City; three grandchildren; three brothers, Maui Ogata, Paul (Arline) Matsunaga and Harold Matsunaga; two sisters, Michie Hironaka and Mildred (Donald) Chang; sister-in-law, Yoshie Ogata; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 3-4 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 28, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; urn service to begin at 4 p.m.

Cecelia Kanahele
Cecelia Napuanani Kanahele of Makaweli, died Aug. 15, 2004, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 69.
Born July 10, 1935, in Hawai‘i, she was a housewife.
She is survived by her husband; Leonard Kanahele, Sr.; five sons: Leonard (Lavonne) Kanahele, Jr., Danny (Linda) Kanahele, Gary (Susan) Kaohelaulii, Wally (Laurice) Kawaihalau, Johnny (Lacey) Kanahele; two daughters: Cecelia (Jim) Beniamina and Caryn (Anthony) Bernaldes; hanai children: Dean Martin, Leticia Kanahele, Evan Kanahele, Jason Beniamina and Jenee Kanahele; one sister: Kahala Kanahele; one brother: Keoki (Kuulei) Keamoai; 26 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Friday, Aug. 27, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Waimea Hawaiian Church from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. where services will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.

Mary “Pat” Evelyn Louis
Mary “Pat” Evelyn Louis of Hilo and formerly of Kaua‘i, died July 15, 2004, at Hilo Medical Center at the age of 77. Born in Tennessee, she was a homemaker. She is survived by companion, Robert Orr of Hilo; hanai daughter, Laurie Kenny of Kaua‘i and large extended family. Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Kealia at 10 a.m. The family suggests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home.
Gregory Steven Hirano
Gregory Steven Hirano of Hanama‘ulu, died Aug. 24, 2004, at his home at the age of 39. Born June 16, 1965 in North Hollywood, Calif., he was a painter with Kauai Screen Prints. He is survived by his father, Steven Hirano; mother Diana Kuramoto; grandmother Umeno Hirano; uncles Gordon Hirano, Gerald Hirano and Phil Lundy; sisters Teresa Peterson and Jennifer Cartwright and half-brother Norman Kuramoto Jr.
