WAILUA – Jason Gamarra came up with a hat trick (three goals) to lead the Wailua Volcano to a 5-0 shutout over the Kapa‘a Samurai Warriors in the AYSO Boys Under 8 contest played at Wailua Homesteads Park Saturday.
This is the first time the field has been marked off for the smaller fields allowing the Three-A-Side (U6), and Five-A-Side (U8) games to be played there.
A spokesperson for the Eastside AYSO program said the smaller team formats allow for “more touches on the ball, and more playing time for the players.”
Previously, Wailua Homesteads had just one field for the older players.
Austin Havens added a goal in the Volcanos’ tally with Dasmon Sasil notching the final goal on a great assist from Raymond Duarte who jockeyed with the Samurai goalie until the ball squirted loose to a waiting Sasil who nailed the score.
The Samurai got great play from goalies Kaiwi Danner and Kupono Fulton, Danner going down on a tremendous save in the final period.
Watch for AYSO game recaps later in the week.
