Gregory Hirano
Gregory Steven Hirano of Hanama‘ulu died Aug. 24, at his home at the age of 39.
Born June 16, 1965 in North Hollywood, Calif., he was a union painter by trade and was most recently hired as contract labor by Kauai Screen Prints.
He is survived by his father, Steven Hirano of Hanama‘ulu; mother Diana Kuramoto of Valencia, Calif.; grandmother Umeno Hirano of Hanama‘ulu; uncles, Gordon Hirano of Hanama‘ulu, Gerald Hirano of Hanama‘ulu, and Phil (Anita) Lundy of Newport, Ore.; sisters Teresa Hirano (Warren) Peterson of Marina Del Ray, Calif. and Jennifer Cartwright of Kapahi; half brother Norman Kuramoto Jr. of Valencia, Calif. girlfriend Charlene Olvera of Kapa‘a and his beloved mooger dog, Mugzy.
Private memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the family residence with blessing to be given by Kauilani Kahalekai. Scattering of ashes to be on Sunday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m at Kalapaki Bay where friends and family are invited to scatter lei and say “Aloha.”

Kenneth Yoshino
Kenneth Yoshino of Lihu‘e, died Aug. 23, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 70.
Born Aug. 7, 1934, in Honolulu, he was a general contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Harriette Ululani Dias-Yoshino of Lihu‘e; four daughters: Karen (Claude) Aulani Yoshime Lumacad of Koloa; Lianne Lauae Yoshino of Lihu‘e, Noreen (Kurt) Mokihana Javinar of Hanama‘ulu, and Elise (Jesse) Kamaile Guirao of Lihu‘e; eight grandchildren: Lee Kamuela Yoshino, Nicole Lumacad, Kurtis Javinar, Jason Lumacad, Kolby Javinar, Keenan Javinar, Isaac Lopes and Amber Lopes; brother: James S. Yoshino; nephews: Mark Yoshino and Wallis Yoshino; and niece Janice Dubree.
Friends may call on Saturday, Sept. 4, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where service will be at 1 p.m. The family suggest casual attire and asks that flowers be omitted.
Interment of ashes will be held at the Jodo Mission of Hawai‘i at 1429 Makiki St. in Honolulu on Sept. 11, 2004, at 11 a.m.
