Yoneo Hirata of Kapa‘a, died Sept. 14, 2004, at his home at the age of 88.
Born July 25, 1916, in Koloa, he was a meat cutter with the Coco Palms Hotel. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife: Mitsue Mizumura Hirata of Kapa‘a; four brothers: Kaoru (Harumi) Hirata of Wisconsin, Makoto (Miyoku) Hirata of Oregon, Yutaka (Jeanette) Hirata of California and James (Janet) Hirata of California; one sister: Ichiyo (Kenichi) Kunichika of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held at the Kapaa Hongwanji Mission, inurnment was held at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe on Monday, Sept. 20. Arrangements were handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Ruth Okihara
Ruth Okihara of Waimea, died at her residence on Sept. 19, 2004 at the age of 80.
Born in Kilauea, on March 16, 1924, she was a Human Resource Assistant with Kekaha Sugar Co.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis Okihara of Kekaha, Russell Okihara of San Diego, CA., and Gerald (Stacey) Okihara of Spokane, WA.; two grandchildren, Kristy of Netherlands and Jacob of Spokane, WA.; one great-granddaughter, Emilie of Netherlands; two sisters, Patricia Konno of Honolulu and Dorothy Kimura of San Diego, CA.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, at St. Paul’s in Kekaha; service to begin at 3 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
