Leon Duhayulongsod, Sr.
Leon Duhaylongsod, Sr. of Kapa‘a, died Sept. 13, 2004, at Garden Island Health Care at the age of 84.
Born April 11, 1920, in the Philippines, he worked in seed treatment for McBryde Sugar.
Preceded in death by two sons, Leon Duhaylongsod, Jr. and Lawrence Duhaylongsod, he is survived by his wife: Fannie Duhaylongsod of Kapa‘a; five children: Mercedes (Richard) Duhaylongsod-Howards of Connecticut, Mary Ann Malia (Scott) Duhaylongsod-Chatterley of Kapa‘a; Rhoda Duhaylongsod of Wailua, Dorean Duhaylongsod of Puhi and Lelene (Jim) Duhaylongsod-Coppola of Nevada;; one sister: Dorothy Balocan Furtado of California; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.. Services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
`Waichi Ikeda
Waichi Ikeda of Waimea, died Sept. 11, 2004, at Castle Medical Center, at the age of 75.
Born March 1, 1929, he was a supervisor at the Kokee Tracking Station. He is survived by his wife: Yuko Elsa of O‘ahu; three sons: David (Sharon) Ikeda of Honolulu, Alvin (Jocelyn) Ikeda of Lihu‘e, and Samuel (Lisa) Ikeda of Kalaheo; one daughter: Joyce Ikeda of Honolulu; two brothers: Harry (Rose) Ikeda of California and Henry (Elaine) Ikeda of California; one sister: Sue (William) Sasaki of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25, at the West Kauai Honpa Hongwanji Mission in Waimea at 9:15 a.m. Service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
