William Earl Gray
William Earl Gray of Lihu‘e, died Sept. 5, 2004, at his home in Lihu‘e, at the age of 81.
Born Feb. 8, 1923, in Cherryvale, Kansas, he was a proprietor in retail sales.
He is survived by his wife: Jane Gray of Lihu‘e; two daughters: Cynthia (Jack) Lincoln of California and Saundra (Tony) Maroussis of Seattle; one stepson: Malcolm (Marcel) Smith, Jr. of Mililani; one stepdaughter: Pamela (Albert) Smith-Chock of Kapahi; three sisters: Marie Lawrence of Texas, Frances Gilliland of Kansas, Juanita Bulger of Kansas; two brothers: Grant Gray of Kansas and Jim Gray of Missouri; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
The family asks that flowers be omitted. Services will be Saturday, Sept. 11, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Memorial services will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
John Medeiros III
John Medeiros III of ‘Oma‘o died Sept. 5, 2004, at his home at the age of 85.
Born Sept. 21, 1918, in ‘Oma‘o, he worked for McBryde Sugar Co. and the County Parks Department.
He is survived by his caregiver: Lillian “Cookie” Silva of ‘Oma‘o; two sisters: Eleanor Cox of ‘Oma‘o and Evelyn (James) Cabral of Puhi; one brother: Abel (Helen) Medeiros of Po‘ipu; and one sister-in-law: Otilda Medeiros of Kaua‘i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery in Koloa.
Aloha attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary

Pacifica Migia King
Pacifica Migia King of Kapa‘a died Sept. 4, 2004, at her home at the age of 73.
Born Sept. 19, 1930, on the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Pres. Hayes, she was a senior center aide with Kauai Senior Centers.
She is survived by her husband: Howard King of Kapa‘a; three daughters: Ann (Gene) Matsushima of Kaneohe, Sharon King of Denver, and Laura (Michael) Furukawa of California; two sons: Juan (Lila) King of Pearl City and Paul King of Honolulu; and one brother: Juan (June) Migia of New Mexico; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 10, at Kapaa First Hawaiian Church at 9 a.m. Service at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people bring a lei. Casual attire is also suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Mary McAninch
Mary Elizabeth Johns McAninch of Springfield, Missouri, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 1, 2004, at the age of 79.
Born in Sparks, Nev., on July 30, 195, she was preceded in death by husband, Wm. Glenn McAninch and son, Wm. Glenn II.
She is survived by daughter, Susie Kaohi of Hanapepe; daughter-in-law Gail McAninch of Hollister, Mo.; two hanai daughters, Leslie (Donnie) Saunders of Virginia Beach, VA., and Marilyn (Greg) Irons of Nixa, Mo., one brother: David Johns of Hampton, NH; two grandsons; Franky Iwai of Hanapepe and Wm. G. McAninch III (Billy) of Hollister, Mo.; three granddaughters, Suzanne Sokei of Kapa‘a; Kelly (Mike) Messenger of Hollister, Mo., and Amber McAninch of Springfield, Mo.; two hanai grandsons, Samuel Irons of Nixa, Mo. and Morgan Saunders of Virginia Beach, VA.; three hanai granddaughters, Jessica and Tiffany Irons of Nixa, Mo. and Emma Saunders of Virginia Beach, VA; one nephew, Dee (Vicky) Johns of Hampton, H; two grandnieces and grandnephews, Crystal, Andrew and David, all of Hampton, NH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of the St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Springfield, Mo., where she was the founder of several church programs. She was a member of the Friends of the Library, Rick and Gem Club, F.D.R. Club of the Democratic Party, Queen City Chapter #226, Order of the Eastern Star, Springfield Assembly #92, Social Order of Beauceant.
Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. Service will be officiated by Pastor Jim Brooking at 10 a.m. with burial to follow. Casual attire is suggested.
