Grandparents on Kaua‘i are going to have their day on Saturday, Nov. 13.
The 208 members of the American Association of Retired Persons Lihu‘e Chapter #654 (AARP), family members and friends plan to celebrate Grandparents Day at the Lydgate Park pavilion from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day.
The event will be a “potluck affair complete with ono-licious hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks,” offering entertainment, fun and games, according to Adelino Valentin, a community advocate for senior citizens on Kaua‘i.
Kaua‘i grandparents will be honored by age, ranging from the youngest to the oldest, by how long they have been married, and by the number of grandchildren they have on Kaua‘i and elsewhere, Valentin said.
Carolyn Pompilio, the vice president of the Kaua‘i AARP chapter, is chief coordinator of the event, and will be assisted by chapter officers and members of the board of directors chaired by Dr. Arthur “Art” Loo, Valentin said.
Please call the AARP information center at 246-4500 for more details about the celebration.
