KALAHEO — Princeton Gee had a dozen points, and Davin Chong added 11 to lead the Gee, Unit A to a 4233 win over the Gee, Unit B Wednesday night at the county’s 12 and Under boys basketball league in Kalaheo.
Gee paced his scoring through the six periods while Chong erupted for nine of his 11 points in the second half, seven coming in the sixth period.
Bradley Heiseir and Marcus Barns each added five points to the effort with Winston Gee chipping in four firsthalf points. Pairs from Christopher Wong and Aaron Victorino rounded out the math.
Manas Kshirsagar finished with a gamehigh 14 points to lead the Gee, Unit B who stayed with their Unit A counterparts for the first two periods before being outgunned 132 in the third stanza.
But, the Unit B boys would not relinquish and roared back to a 122 answer in the fourth frame behind balanced scoring from Kshirsagar, Dane Bautista, and Joel Duronset.
The Unit B continued to chip away with a 30 fifth frame before the fuse hit Chong’s powder keg for the 140 final frame for Unit A.
Duronset finished the contest with six points to help Kshirsagar along with Bautista finishing with four points. Mark Hatchell, Peter Bierly, and Peta Taufuo‘o each finished with pairs, and a digit by Donovan Harrison rounded out the contest.
Urijah Phillips finished with a gamehigh dozen points, and was joined by three other Eastsiders who finished with sixpoint showings as the Eastside dismantled the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders, 488.
Clearly outheighting the Fire Raiders, the Eastside finished with Ka‘awa Solomon, Sean Shigematsu, and Maluhia States each chipping in six points in the win.
Jason Iloreta and Tanner Shigeta ended the night with four points apiece with Keane Agoot, William Rabot, Ty States, Kawelo Lindsey, and BJ Melchor closing the books with a pair each.
The Kaua‘i Fire Raiders, despite being short on height, worked through two periods before drawing first blood on a Travis Koga bucket.
A charity pair by Dallas Correa in the fourth frame was joined by buckets by Isaac Ramboyan and Kameron Perez in the fifth frame for the Fire Raiders.
Patrick Kavanagh came off the bench to ignite Hanamaulu with a gamehigh 13 points at the buzzer as the blueshirts downed Island School, 4513 in the finale.
Paleku Yasay helped Kavangh with nine points while Alex Palacio bulled for seven points to lead Island School.
The county’s 12 and Under boys program has just two more days of games scheduled as they take the court at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center on Saturday, Feb. 5. Their final games are on Monday, Feb. 7.
