Leaders of the state Department of Transportation will discuss short-term traffic fixes for the Kapa‘a and Wailua areas today, Wednesday, Feb. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Aloha Beach Resort-Kauai in Wailua.
Leaders of the Kapaa Business Association and Kapaa Rotary Club host the meeting, and have invited business and community leaders interested in learning more about plans for improving traffic congestion in the Kapa‘a and Lihu‘e corridors.

Representatives from the state Department of Transportation will present current plans, timelines and improvement alternatives. Speakers include Rodney Haraga, DOT administrator; Brannon Morioka, state DOT deputy administrator for high-ways; and Steve Kyono, state DOT Highways Division Kaua‘i regional engineer. Consultant Nadine Nakamura, with NKN Project Planning, will facilitate. Other host organizations include the Kauai Business Council, Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, Lihue Business Association and North Shore Business Association, Kauai Economic Development Council and Kaua‘i Planning and Action Alliance.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for pupus, with the formal meeting starting promptly at 6 p.m.
