Kapa‘6-2 at the Gold Dairies a’s state tournament run ended yesterday, as Pearl City upended the Warriors, HHSAA/Meadow Girls Soccer State Championships on O‘ahu at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.
The Warriors drop down to the consolation bracket and play today at 1 p.m., against King Kekaulike High School, who lost to Mililani, 2-0.
This will be a reunion between former Kapa‘a coach Michael Ban and the Warriors.
Ban is the assistant athletic director at the Maui school.
In other first round action, Konawaena defeated Kailua, 2-1 and Moanalua edged Kealakehe, 3-2.
Kapa‘a now sports a 5-2-2 record on the season. The KIF champs will be eliminated from state tournament play, with a loss against King Kekaulike.
If the Warriors prevail in the consolation match, they will move on to play on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the consolation title.
