As opposed to going on at Vidinha Stadium this Saturday, as it was noted in the schedule handed to The Garden Island, the K-PAL Flag Football games will be at the Hanapepe Stadium and the following week, the contests will go on at Vidinha Stadium.
Ed Ho Meet scheduled for August 13
The West Kaua‘i Lions Club is proud to sponsor the 31st Annual Ed Ho Memorial Swim Meet. Mr. Ed Ho, a former teacher and coach at Waimea High School unselfishly devoted his time and energy to the youth, community activities, and to organizations including the West Kaua’i Lions Club.
This swim meet is open to boys and girls 17 years of age and younger.
Pre-registration will be accepted not later than August 3.
The events scheduled include freestyle, back and breast-stroke, butterfly, and individual medley.
All events are scheduled to be at the Waimea Swimming Pool on Saturday, August 13.
The meet starts with the first heat promptly at 9 a.m.

Final AYSO registration moved to Kalaheo
The final registration signups for AYSO Region 940 (West Region) will be on Saturday, June 18 at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Registration fee for players will be $60 which includes uniform jersey, shorts and socks. All new players must present a copy of birth certificate.

Smith almost pulls off big upset
Kaua‘i’s Koa Smith took 14-year-old Maui resident, Albee Layer down to the wire and finished in second-place in the Quiksilver King of the Groms contest, held on Monday at the Ala Moana Bowl.
With the win, Layer earned a trip to surf in an international event in France in September.
Smith, who’s just 10 years old, was fearless heading into the finals, against the much older Layer.
Despite the loss in the final, Smith stil took home a $300 prize.
Meanwhile, Dylan Melamed, Tyler Newton, and Aaron Swanson all won $100 each at the contest.
Amateur boxing back on tap
After a short stint down on the mat, amateur boxing in Hawai‘i rose once again and was reinstated by the Hawai‘i State Boxing Commission.
After not having the right paperwork and licenses during an investigation, U.S.A. boxing Hawai‘i chapter proved it had a license to promote to begin with and the financial records requested as well.
Fite’s nice finish at Kaua‘i Lagoons
Kapa‘a’s Rich Fite found the hole with one shot at the Kaua‘i Lagoons’ Mokihana Course.
He aced the third hole (145 yards), using a 7-iron. Witnesses included Dan “You’re Always Number One” Mackey, Alan Roodt, Bill Barley, and Phil “All You Can Eat” Buford.
UH Wahine basketball camp
The University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine Basketball Elite Camp runs from June 23-25 for children ages 13-18.
