POIPU — Kawailoa Development, owner of the Grand Hyatt Kauai and Poipu Bay Golf Course, has announced that Craig Sasada will join the staff of Poipu Bay as Director of Golf beginning August 1. Sasada most recently held the position of Head Golf Professional at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course on Maui.
“We look forward to welcoming Craig to Kauai and Poipu Bay,” says Myles Shibata, Chief Operating Officer for Kawailoa Development. “With his strong background in golf course management, guest services, tournament operations and major event administration, we believe Craig will make an excellent leader for our Poipu Bay team.”
Sasada has over twenty years of experience in the golf industry and is a Class A1 member of the PGA of America. He is a graduate of San Diego Golf Academy and PGA Business Schools I, II and III. Over the past two decades, Sasada has held positions at four golf courses on Maui: Assistant Golf Professional at the Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course, Assistant Golf Professional at Waiehu Golf Course, Head Golf Professional at Sandalwood Golf Course and his most recent position as Head Golf Professional at Kapalua’s Plantation Course. Sasada’s varied background includes experience as a teaching professional, supervision of guest service activities, development of Junior Golf programs, and coordination of major golf events. At Kapalua, he was involved with the administration of various aspects of the Mercedes Championships, the PGA Tour season kickoff event that takes place at the Plantation Course.
Poipu Bay is an 18-hole championship golf course situated on 210 oceanfront acres on Kauai’s southern coast, adjacent to its sister property, the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa.
