Two people were arrested Thursday following a brief car chase in connection with a drug bust on a residential street in Lihu‘e, according to county officials.
The arrest took place just before noon in the vicinity of Jerves Street, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
Reportedly, the Ice Task Force Narcotic Enforcement Unit and the Kaua‘i Police Department patrol units were on the scene and confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash and crystal methamphetamine.
According to police arrest records, Ronald A. Dejos, 35, who gave police a Wahiawa residence, was charged with first-degree promoting a dangerous drug, a class-A felony, according to the county prosecutor’s office. It wasn’t clear if the Dejos hometown was Wahiawa, O‘ahu, or the Wahiawa section of Kaua‘i near ‘Ele‘ele.
Dejos also was charged with third-degree promoting a dangerous drug and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, class-C felony charges.
Dejos was being lodged Friday at the Kaua‘i Police Department lock up with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
Also arrested was Alexys Nicole Legowicz, 26, of Honolulu. She faces the same charges as Dejos. Her bail was set at $20,000 for first-degree promoting a dangerous drug charge and $1,000 each for the lesser charges.
The pair are set to be arraigned Monday, according to county officials.
According to the state attorney general’s public access Web site, Ronald Alan Dejos, also known as “Bong,” has five previous convictions including one for third-degree promoting a dangerous drug. He was convicted of that crime March 27, 2001, and was sentenced to five years in jail.
He also was convicted of three misdemeanor charges and one petty misdemeanor, a liquor violation involving a minor. All of his convictions were decided in Kaua‘i District Court.
The public access rap sheet Web site, which includes only Hawaiian data, displayed no prior convictions for Legowicz.
