June Jones, University of Hawai’i head football coach, and Jerry Glanville, UH’s new defensive coordinator, are featured in two 30-second commercials promoting Warrior football.
The commercials, which will air on K5, KHNL, and KHON2 beginning July 6, were taped in the KHON2 studios on June 23.
In the first commercial, Jones and Glanville have a lively and spirited debate about the value of offense vs. defense.
In the second commercial, Jones discusses the Warriors’ impressive home schedule and Glanville stresses (in his normal high-energy manner) the importance of fans being in attendance to help the team succeed.
Humorous as always, Glanville entertained the production crew throughout the taping with a series of one-liners and stories that kept the hour-long production session fun and entertaining.
KHON2 offered to produce and air the commercials for free in order to help build excitement about the upcoming football season and assist with season-ticket sales.
The theme for this year’s campaign is “There’s Nothing Like Being There” and Jones and Glanville echoed that message by communicating the importance of fans being the team’s “12th Man.”
Glanville enthusiastically conveys that a large crowd pumps up the players and helps the squad perform at its maximum intensity.
K5 is producing two additional football season-ticket commercials to assist with UH’s ticket-sales campaign. All four commercials will air on K5, KHNL, and KHON2 beginning on July 6 and will continue through August.
KHNL and K5 are entering their 23rd year as UH’s television partners. K5 will air more than 80 telecasts of men’s and women’s sports during the 2005-06 academic year.
