Douglas Kaeo
Douglas “Doug” Mervin Kaeo of Lihu’e died on Sept. 19, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 59.
Born on Sept. 20, 1945, he was employed as an electronic technician with the Hawaii Air National Guard.
Preceded in death by his son, Douglas Jr., he is survived by his wife, Bernie Kaeo; son, Danford (Chanel) Kaeo; granddaughters, Harley-Lyn and Hayley-Jay; parents, Juliet (Masao) Matsumoto; mother-in-law, Dora Sugai; brothers, Eric (Kehau) Matsumoto, Craven Matsumoto, Jason (Lisa) Matsumoto; sisters, Norma (Brent) Neslon, Lucille (Nelson) Asada, Jan (Tino) Ganutan, Christine (Danny) Matsumoto.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their residence at 4250 Kaana St., Lihu’e.

Mabel Marie Branco
Mabel Marie Branco of Kapa’a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 18, 2005, at the age of 71.
Born in Kealia, on Sept. 11, 1934, she was a housewife.
She is survived by husband, Ernest; two sons, Allan (Evelyn) Branco and Jeffery Branco, both of Kapa’a; daughter, Donna (Kenton) Gomes of Kapa’a; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers: Johnny (Carol) Barretto Sr., Gilbert Barretto Sr., Alfred Barretto, all of Kapa’a, and Robert (Norma) Barretto of Wailua Homesteads; three sisters: Lucy Freitas of Kealia, Madeline (Gary) Nelson of Lihu’e, and Alice (Archie) Fontanilla of Kaumakani; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Tokuo Uemura
Tokuo “Kabby” Uemura of Lihu’e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 19, 2005, at the age of 86.
Born in Makaweli on June 10, 1919, he retired as a technician with the County of Kaua’i.
He is survived by his wife, Kikue Uemura; three sons, Kenneth (Cleopat) Uemura of Lawa’i, Fred (Elaine) Uemura of Honolulu, Gregg Uemura of Lihu’e; three daughters: Judy (Harold) Ishinaga of Honolulu, Jeanne (Alan) Hamada of California, Sherilene Teruya of Honolulu; one sister, Isa Honma of ‘Ele’ele, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Koloa Missionary Church at 10 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens in Kapaia.
Cremation and arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
June Sugioka
June Emiko Sugioka of Brydeswood, and formerly of Honolulu, died Sept. 7, 2005, on Kaua’i, at the age of 53.
Born May 22, 1952, in Honolulu, she was a registered sanitarian for the state Department of Health.
She is survived by parents, Seichi and Hatsuko Sugioka of Honolulu; brother, Glenn Sugioka of Honolulu. A memorial service is at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. The family suggests casual attire, and requests that flowers be omitted.

Yoshio Miyazaki
Yoshio “Lefty” “Kamakazi” “Suicide” Miyazaki of Kane’ohe died Sept. 6, 2005, at home at the age of 77.
Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Waimea, he retired as an electrician work leader/supervisor for Electrician/Utilities Shop 622, Public Works Center Pearl Harbor Shipyard.
He is survived by his wife: Ayano; sons: Myles Y., Kelvin M. and George K.; daughters: Eileen A. Onomoto and Ellen M. Nakasone; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Robert; sisters: Kikue Kusatani, Mitsue Yamakawa and Alice Yoshimori.
Friends may visit with the family today from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park mortuary, with Buddhist services at 6:30 p.m.
Reception to follow. Private inurnment at a later date.
The family asks that flowers be omitted, and suggests casual attire.
