LIHU’E Nothing’s changed since last year in KIF JV football and Kaua’i delivered a reminding blow last night at Vidinha Stadium, with a 350 bombing of Kapa’a.
The defending champion Red Raider JV squad, who went undefeated last season, ran their unblemished streak to seven games.
But more importantly, it’s the way Kaua’i defeats its opponents. The men in red have won in convincing fashion all last year and it looks as though they might continue their dominance.
Kaua’i notched two quick scores in the first quarter, thanks to a Tyrus CeriaLux 10 yard TD pass to Keli’e Ruiz. Blake Gingerich converted the first of four PAT’s on the evening.
Micah Alayvilla scrambled 3 yards just a few seconds later for the 140 lead at the end of the first quarter. Gingerich got into the action at quarterback and sailed a 39 yard TD pass to Jonathan Gebauer for the lone second quarter score.
Gingerich continued to flex his muscles with a 6 yard TD strike to Sheldon Sakai for the 280 early third quarter lead.
Ruiz crossed the goal line for his second TD of the contest at the midpoint of the final quarter, but this time, the sophomore scored on a 34 yard run, which completed the Red Raider domination at 350.
JV games can be seen on Ho’ike (channel 52) on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., courtesy of Alonzo Sports Videos. This weekend’s contest will feature Waimea and Kapa’a.
