Kenneth “Bully” Hokumalamalama Kaauwai of Kapa’a, died at his home on Sept. 10, 2005, at the age of 68.
Born in Lihu’e on May 26, 1937, he was an electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia E. Kaauwai of Kapa’a; two sons, Kenneth “Hoku” (Kristell) Kaauwai, II of Kapa’a and JonahKuhio (Shari) Kaauwai of O’ahu; daughter, Michelle L. Efhan of Kapa’a; seven grandchildren, Cherie Nalani Efhan, Aaron-Jay Kahiki Kaauwai, Ethan Kanaloa Kaauwai, Elijah Hokumalamalama Kaauwai, Chloe Lilinoe Kaauwai, Zion Kahekili Kaauwai and Ridge Kauila Kaauwai; four brothers, John (Barbara) Kaauwai, William Kaauwai, James Kaauwai and Bert Kaauwai; six sisters, Elizabeth Costa, Henrietta (Robert) Gonsalves, Maureen (John) Seagrove, Linda (Nellie) Iwamoto, Annette Kaauwai and sister-in-law Delores (Joe) Kaauwai.
Friends may visit with the family from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Kapaa First Hawaiian Church; service officiated by Kahu Yeow will begin at 11 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.

Stanley “Stan” William Souza Sr.
Stanley “Stan” William Souza Sr. died on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Straub Hospital at the age of 69.
Born in Kealia on Sept. 16, 1935, he was preceded in death by his parents Ida and Joe Souza, grandparents Antone and Matilda Machado, and Sister Barbara O. Rapozo.
He worked for the Corps of Army Engineers and later for Lihue Plantation as a truck driver, irrigation supervisor, harvesting supervisor, herbicide supervisor, shop superintendent and retired after 35 years, as manager of Kauai Sugar Storage. He also serviced the community with his own trucking business, Stan Souza’s Trucking.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julia L. Ornellas Souza; one sister, Bernadette (Kenneth) Vidinha of Wailua Homesteads; one daughter, Laurie Souza of Kapa’a; and four sons: Russell P. (Vernalyn) Souza of Wailua Homesteads, Stanley W. Souza Jr. (Hollie) of Kapa’a, Paul K. (Adi) Souza of Kapa’a, and Jerry J. (Shaunne) Souza of Kapa’a; 12 grandchildren: Kayla, Rustan, Stanley W. III, Chelsea, Megan, Taybree, Ian, Christy, Brittney, Bryson, Ryan, and Waldo; two greatgrandchildren: Leilana and Kailea; aunt, Eleanor Andrade of Wailua Homesteads; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great fishing partners.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with service to follow on Saturday, Sept. 24, at St. Catherine’s Parish. Scattering of his ashes will be done at a later date.

Douglas Kaeo
Douglas “Doug” Mervin Kaeo of Lihu’e died on Sept. 19, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 59.
Born on Sept. 20, 1945, he was employed as an electronic technician with the Hawaii Air National Guard.
Preceded in death by his son, Douglas Jr., he is survived by his wife, Bernie Kaeo; son, Danford (Chanel) Kaeo, granddaughters, Harley-Lyn and Hayley-Jay; parents, Juliet (Masao) Matsumoto; mother-in-law, Dora Sugai; brothers, Eric (Kehau) Matsumoto, Craven Matsumoto, Jason (Lisa) Matsumoto; sisters, Norma (Brent) Neslon, Lucille (Nelson) Asada, Jan (Tino) Ganutan, Christine (Danny) Matsumoto.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their residence at 4250 Kaana St., Lihu’e.
Arrangements were handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
June Sugioka
June Emiko Sugioka of Brydes-wood, and formerly of Honolulu died Sept. 7, 2005, on Kaua’i, at the age of 53.
Born May 22, 1952, in Honolulu, she was a registered sanitarian for the Kauai Health Department.
She is survived by parents, Seichi and Hatsuko Sugioka of Honolulu; brother, Glenn Sugioka of Honolulu; memorial service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
