Beth L. Gifford
Beth L. Gifford of Salem, Ore., died Sept. 10, 2005, at the age of 80.
Born April 30, 1925, on the Greenlee dairy farm in Polk County, Wisc., she was a trust officer at U.S. Bank in Salem. She was a resident of Kalaheo for 18 years where she sang in the choir at Kalaheo Missionary Church. She and her husband of 50 years, Ben, enjoyed hosting visitors at the retirement home they built on Kaua’i.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Della Greenlee, and her husband, Ben I. Gifford, she is survived by three children: Cheryl Gifford Calaycay, and son-in-law; Dr. Ben R. Gifford and daughter-in-law, Tambi, and Carla J. Gifford; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at First Christian Church in Salem, Or. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Salem. Memorial gifts may be directed to the First Christian Church Choir Fund, 685 Marion Street NE, Salem, OR 97301 in Beth’s name.
Fumiyo Nagaoka
Fumiyo Wasano Nagaoka of Kapa’a, died at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Sept. 4, 2005, at the age of 92.
Born in Lawa’i, on Nov. 15, 1912, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by sister, Tomoko Watanabe; children, Albert (Ruth) Nagaoka, Nancy (Donald) Sugawa, Irene (Hisao) Maeda, Joan (Thomas) Tanigawa, Howard Nagaoka, Roy (Gail) Nagaoka and Lois (Ernest) Hamada; eight grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren. Services were private.

Yoshio Miyazaki
Yoshio Miyazaki of Lawai, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 8, 2005, at the age of 87.
Born in ‘Ele’ele, on July 15, 1918, he was a retired self-employed electrical contractor.
He is survived by two sons, Herbert (Jessie) Miyazaki of Kalaheo and Reynold (Glenda) Miyazaki of Lawai; two daughters, Gladys Miyazaki and Nora (Lawrence) Wong, both of Honolulu, O’ahu; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; service to begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

David Kolo
David Kawika Kolo of Lihu’e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 13, 2005 at the age of 78.
Born in Niumalu on June 26, 1927, he was a retired fireman with Lihue Fire Station.
He is survived by two brothers, William K. Kolo Jr. of Lihu’e and Alapai Kolo of O’ahu; five sisters, Mildred K. Chow of Lihu’e, Elsie Kaahaaaina of O’ahu, Lillian Agtarap of Hilo, Louisa Brown of Arkansas and Alice Silverman of Anahola; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; service at 7:30 p.m. Scattering of his ashes will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Kalapaki Beach. Aloha attire is suggested.
