After starting off the season in unlikely fashion, the UH Wahine volleyball squad turned it around with impressive victories last week.
Along the way, the No. 6 University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine (5-3) won the Waikiki Beach Marriott Volleyball Challenge and will now host the second-ranked Washington Huskies at the Stan Sheriff Center on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m.
Television Coverage
KFVE (Channel 5) will televise Friday’s match this week, with Jim Leahey (play-by-play) and Chris McLachlin (color commentary) handling the broadcast. Saturday’s match will be shown live on pay-per-view through Oceanic cable, then showed delayed on KFVE on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m.
Monday Afternoon Football?
You’ll get a chance to see two instead of one Monday NFL game, thanks to KITV-4 Island Television, who announced yesterday that they will broadcast the New Orleans/N.Y. Giants game live on Monday, September 19, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (HST). ABC is broadcasting that game as a part of the Katrina Relief efforts. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. (EST).
While the rest of the ABC stations across the country will hand the game off to ESPN at 3 p.m. (HST), KITV has received permission to continue to the feed until the end of the game.
By getting permission from ABC to air the entire Saints/Giants game, football fans in Hawai’i get the special bonus of seeing both games on broadcast television. The Washington/Dallas game will be tapedelayed until 6:30 p.m.
