AYSO season winds down

With the AYSO soccer season winding down, it’s time to pay homage to all of the volunteers who make the games possible. Parents, coaches, and officials deserve a pat on the back for the hard work and countless hours they spend on and off the field.

Congratulations to Anahola’s Mariko Strickland, who notched another goal recently for San Diego St. Strickland is a former AYSO player, who earned a full scholarship for the Aztecs. Girls U5: Butterflies vs. Mean Green Machine

The Butterflies and the Mean Green Machine had an excellent game on Saturday as both teams showed great skill and team work with the girls running hard, passing and dribbling up and down the field. The Butterflies’ offense was highlighted by Lucie Anderson, Jaycee Pang and Chloe Rudinoff, with aggressive defense provided by power-house kickers Anastasia Wilson and Jacqueline Bieber. Thanks Mean Green for a fun game!

Boys U8: Devil Rays vs. Chameleons

The Devil Rays and Chameleons showed great teamwork and skill during Saturday’s game in Kilauea. The game was evenly matched with each team going goal for goal ending in a 4-all tie. The scoring for the Devil Rays was led by Les Aki, Kai Anderson and Leighton Moniz, with an exceptional display of team work and skill for a spectacular pass-pass-goal drive at the end of the 1st quarter. The defensive backbone for the Devil Rays was highlighted by Kirk Machado and Julian Coccimiglio with diving saves and blocks. Excellent job boys! Thanks for a great game, Chameleons!

Boys U10: Warriors vs. Raptors

Goal keepers did an excellent job with fantastic saves.

Warriors goal scorer: Justyn Nagahisa (hat trick) and the amazing team players: Cameron Althouse, Tenzin Ray, Dazmon Sasil, Adan Elizalde, Victor Sanchez and Emanuel Zafirides.

Goal scorers for the Raptors, Kenji Matsuda, Jonah Stokes and Bryan Yadao-Alisna (Mult) and Outstanding Team Players : Noah Croyden and Noah Kaye, Keoki Planas, Paul Oyama. Thanks to the coaches Kevin Gusman (Warriors) and Guy Croyden (Raptors) for sharing your time with us this season.

Boys U6: Superboys vs. Golden Dragons

Both teams showed off their talent and quick speed to both family and friends. Goal scorers for the Superboys: Braeden Jensen, Izaya Valaria, Taylenn Daligdid, and First Hat trick for Chayse Basuel.

Golden Dragon scorers: Kai Brun, Cody DeSilva, Mac Cockerham and Edward Bernabaye. Mahalo to our coaches Joanna Tanigawa and Kyle Cockerham.

Boys U8: Sea Dragons vs. Warriors

The Sea Dragons and the Warriors played for the second time on Saturday, October 25. It was another great match up between the two teams.

The Sea Dragons did a good job working the field as a team. They all tried their best and played hard. Team members include Raymond Duarte, Jonah Howard, Coleman Langstaff, Jayson Hawthorne and Tavish McGreevy.

The Warriors played a tough game and did excellent on the field. They showed some great offensive and defensive skills. Team members include Kobe Nagahisa, Bobby Bartolo, Larry Rupert, David Heiser, Treston Nagahisa, and Seth Francisco.

Shooting Stars vs. Red Hots

It was a lively, evenly matched, and enjoyable game to watch. Both teams played well.

The Wailua Shooting Stars had great defense. Mckenzie Lee, Sierra Perry and Lindsey Tresien all did an outstanding job taking turns in the sweeper position. It was smart field positioning which made it challenging for the Red Hots to score. Lindsey Tresion was on fire offensively for the Shooting Stars. She took the ball downfield and barely missed a few attempts at scoring. It must have been the wind? It was great to see her finally prevail and score for her team.

The Red Hots: Jaiden and Kiana Taylor, Cosi Pearce. Mackenzie Barton and Lillian Okamoto all contributed to the team effort by paying attention and playing their best. It was great to hear the sidelined players cheer their team mates on. Jaiden Taylor had an outstanding game. She played great both defensively and offensively and was absolutely thrilled when she scored a goal for her team. Kiana Taylor played incredibly well, too. She had excellent field positioning and assisted her team mate Lillian Okamoto in scoring. Lillian had terrific ball control and scored a few times for her team.

Special thanks goes out to Lindsey Tresion’s Grandma who brought the refreshing blue gatorade ice cubes for all the players to enjoy. Thanks also goes out to coaches Nicole Pezario and Martha Okamoto for modeling good sportsmanship!

Boys U6: Superboys vs. Flying Tigers.

Both teams demonstrated fancy footwork and skilled moves.

Amazing Superboys’ goal scorers were Chayse Basuel (Mult), Taylenn Daligdig, Braeden Jensen, and Izaya Valaria. Flying Tigers goal scorers were Makoa Dryer, Ian Kimura, Nico Maiona, and Tomas Sanchez.

Boys U8: Silver Rockets vs. Warriors

It was a great game to watch if you love offense, as both teams put up big numbers.

Larry Rupert scored the first goal of the game and scored another in the third quarter. Also scoring were the “dynamic duo,” the Nagahisa cousins, Treston (Mult) and Kobe. Leading the strong defense for the Warriors were Bobby Bartolo and David Heiser.

The Silver Rockets were lead by the strong leg of Dylan Koerte (Mult) and Clifton Oliver. They had a strong defensive effort from Makoa Rapozo, Micah Keidser, Gabriel Sifuentes and Gabe Keener. Hats off to the many Coaches of the Rockets and Warrior Coach Jason Nagahisa.

Boys U10: Psychos vs. Warriors

It was a dog fight as the Wailua Warriors visited the Kilauea Psychos. Both teams spoiled each others’ offensive attacks by defending their goals with great determination. Victor Sanchez finally broke free in the third quarter to put the Warriors on the board. The Psychos came back in the fourth quarter as Jean-Luc Trembley scored one off a free kick. Warriors were lead defensively by Kameron Althouse, Adan Elizalde, Tenzin Ray, Dazmon Sasil, Emanuel Zafirides, Dylan Montoya and Justyn Nagahisa.

Psychos were lead by Liko Mcbride, Keale Lee, Ross Kimura, Logan Fredricksen, Jackson Littlefield, Brenden Simpson, McKaelin Edralin, and Ryland Santos. Mahalo to our coaches Kevin Gusman (Warriors) and Suzie Lee (Psychos) for their time and patience

U10 Boys: Waimea 1, Koloa 0

The only goal made was by Tyler Yamamoto of the Flaming Falcons with outstanding assists by his fellow team mates: John Cachero, Jamin Fernandez, Jaron Parongao, Noah Penner, Bradley Lumabao, Chris Milan, Brock Tacata, Makai Hoeppner, Reed Powell, Drake Kaohelauli’i and Bradley Ceballos. Their coach is Dave Walker. Koloa Green Guardians brought out their outstanding players and they include: Jordan Pinkerton, Blaze Rendon, James Thesken, Kal Anacleto, Kunane Anderson, Logan Baptiste, Jordan Deason and Race Nakamura. Both teams played great soccer!

Here’s our game statistics. Our Lihue Bunnies played the Lihue Supersonics. Bunnies taking the win. It was 0-0 first half. Mahina Tangonan scored the one point in the third quarter, game ended 1-0. Awesome defense by Macy Tamura, Mikayla Domingo, Mie Miller, Mahina Tangonan, Kailani Yamamot and Hauoli Hornos. And outstanding competition from the Supersonics holding down the score board.

U6 Girls: Red Hots vs. Silver Angels

Under cloudy skies on a soaked Hanalei field the players from both teams had much FUN participating in another great soccer game. Coaches Martha Okamoto and James Alisna were pleased that the weather held out and that all the girls played their best.

The Red Hots’ offense was good with strong efforts by Cosi Pearce and Lillian Okamoto. Both girls scored twice for their team and played tough defense, particularly Cosi, who chest blocked a ball to take the ball in the right direction. Sunny Patey and Mackenzie Barton also did their best and are showing wonderful progress with their soccer skills. Keep up the terrific play, Red Hots!

The Silver Angels played incredible offense. Tyra Alao and Nygeria Williams were outstanding players throughout the game.

They weaved the ball between the defenders, passed and kicked accurately and scored numerous times for their team. Naomi Yadao-Alisna and Asia Arii-Keider also played very well and made many good plays for the Silver Angels. Great game girls. Way to go!

U8 Boys: Sea Dragons vs. Silver Vipers

“So we meet again”, said the Wailua Sea Dragons to the Kapaa Silver Vipers on Saturday, October 8. This was the second match up for these two teams. The Sea Dragons played great soccer. They did a good job working the field both on offense and defense. Team members are Raymond Duarte, Jayson Hawthorne, Jonah Howard, and Coleman Lang-staff, and Tavish McGreevy.

The Silver Vipers showed some real talent on the field. They did an excellent job. Team members are Derek Lacaden Jr., Mason Tabura, Isaiah Ferris, Esekiel Bagona, Nike Hillston, Maxwell Nice, and Treysen Barretto.

A big thank you for excellent coaching by Curtis Langstaff of the Sea Dragons and Katrina Bagano of the Silver Vipers.

Jaguars 1, Young Guns 0

High octane aggressive offense was the name of the game, with outstanding play by Hanapepe’s Isaiah Duldalao, Justin Fune, Jace Mamaragan and Chistopher Ishikawa. They were ultimately bested by the super footwork/teamwork and strong passing of Waimea Jaguar’s Kekai San Agustin-Nordmeier, Chris Rennie and Haku Barriga.

Defensive for both teams were ultra intensive but sweeper/goalies Devon Hartsell, Jeremy Arkins, Jacob Jones and Evan Hensely were able to keep Hanapepe scoreless!

Sole goal of the game was scored by Kekai San Agustin Nordmeier.

Jaguars 5, Koloa Giants 0

Haku Barriga started and ended the game with phenomenal offensive focus, scoring 3 of the 5 Jaguar goals.

He had excellent offensive support from Jaugar’s Chris Rennie and Devon Hartsell whose incessant goal shots kept Koloa defenders Scott Kilcoyne and Elijah Lagundino busy blocking.

Koloa players Nigel Melchor, Matt Myerson, Callum Pedroni and Nicholas Melchor worked hard to keep the ball out of Waimea’s control but Jaguar’s Jacob Jones, Jeremy Atkins, Evan Hensely and Kekai San Agustin-Nordmeier answered back each Koloa offensive push and in the end the Jaguars were victorious! Go Jags! Goals scored: Haku Barriga (3), Kekai Agustin- Nordmeier (1) and Jacob Jones (1).

Boys U10: Flaming Falcons vs. Tigers

Despite a one-player shortage from the Kalaheo team, the game went on. Waimea gave one of their players each quarter of the game to the Kalaheo team so the kids would have a “play-forfun” soccer game.

Parents watched a great soccer game by both teams!

Goals made by Waimea were Jamin Fernandez, Chris Milan and Brock Tacata.

Kalaheo’s goals were made by #12, #14 and #16.

Outstanding players from Kalaheo include: Kenji Mori, Eli Sloan, Stuart Beeksman, Kellan Worthman, Ka’eo Howard, and Makali’i Pratt, coached by Michael Flanagan.

Outstanding players from Waimea include John Cachero, Bradley Ceballos, Makai Hoeppner, Drake Kaohelauli’i, Bradely Lumabao, Jaron Parongao, Noah Penner, Reed Powell, and Tyler Yamamoto.
