The Hawai’i Junior Golf Association is featuring another event, the Kiahuna Invitational, beginning today at the Kiahuna Golf Course in Po’ipu.
The all ages competition is set for 36 holes of play.
Kaua’i hosted the last HSJGA tournament, the Jr. Tour Series at Puakea Golf Course, from October 8-9.
The HSJGA’s season is down to two tournaments after the Kiahuna event.
The year ending HSJGA Tournament of Champions signals the end of the season. The December 10-11 contest is being held at the Wailea Emerald Course on Maui.
Honolulu Marathon entries growing fast
With just under four weeks to go, the Honolulu Marathon entry count has already surpassed the 2004 total of 25,671.
As of yesterday, 25,753 people registered for the December 11 race. Entries will be taken until Dec. 10.
The breakdown of 2005 entries shows that there are 1,519 more entries from Japan than there were at the same time last year.
Entries from Japan now to-tal 16,005. At the current rate, entries from Japan could reach 18,000 for the first time since 1996.
The 2004 Honolulu Marathon was the 3rd largest marathon in the U.S. behind the New York City and Chicago marathons.
Kapa’a Pop Warner elections
It’s time once again for the selection of officers for the Kapa’a Pop Warner organizations.
Nominees will be accepted via email at kapaacheer@hotmail.com, or in writing submitted to any board member by Sun. Nov. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Elections will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 23, between 5 and 7 p.m. by secret ballot at the practice field on the picnic table next to the green equipment room.
Nominees should be nominated for one position only. Please get permission and notify your nominee of the nomination. Members only are allowed to vote.

Mokihana sends six swimmers to O’ahu
Mokihana Aquatics, Kaua’i’s only USA Swimming sanctioned club will be sending six individuals to the 26th Annual Pearl City Invitational, from Nov. 25-27.
The event will take place a the brand new Central O’ahu pool that just opened recently.
The swimmers going up to O’ahu are Keyah-Leilani Agoot (13-14), Kaitlyn Jarry (11-12), Meaghan Sims (15-16), Matthew Holzman (11-12), Matthew Ross (15-16), and Keenan Anaya (15-16). Former Mokihana swimmer Ben Baldwin will also be attending the meet, but as an unattached swimmer.
The club is also selling Christmas Trees, with the proceeds going directly to Mokihana Aquatics. December 2 is the pickup date (noon to 6 p.m.) at Two Frogs Hugging’s parking lot.
The premium Douglas Firs will be sold for $60. The trees are between six and seven feet.
