Both Chelsea Smith-Wishard of Kaua’i (19:33) and Waimea’s Scott Martin (16:39) dominated once again with impressive performances on their way to the top.
Martin eclipsed the 17 minute mark for the second week in a row and Smith-Wishard looks almost unstoppable on her way to another KIF individual title.
Kapa’a’s boys squad tallied 36 points, followed by Waimea with 37, Island with 49, Kula with 58, and Kaua’i with 96. However, Kula wasn’t eligible for the team title because of the lack of runners.
On the girls side, Kaua’i held onto 34 points, followed by Waimea at 42, Kapa’a at 56, Kula with 85, and Island with 130. Top 10 runners for the girls included Smith-Wishard, Waimea’s Rachel Martin (21:38), Kapa’a’s Alex Pond (22:03), Gillian Pickett of Kula (23:08), Alicia Cowern of Kaua’i (23:12), Waimea’s Carolyn Hoeckman (23:27), Amanda Savage of Kaua’i (23:37), Waimea’s Sonya Tacub (23:56), Kaua’i’s Tara Mc-Coy (23:59), and Kapa’a’s Erin Pickett (23:59).
Top 10 boys runners included Martin, Nathan Martin of Waimea (18:03), Island’s Chris Marsh (18:42), Island’s Ben Baldwin (18:44), Kapa’a’s Chance Bukoski (19:13), Kapa’a’s Jason Orbe-Smith (19:15), Kapa’a’s Adam Kerlin (19:22), Kapa’a’s Alex Soza (19:24), Waimea’s Kaimana Girod (19:35), and Kapa’a’s Alex LaMadrid.
